An airline explained how a mistake on their part resulted in a real-life Home Alone scene coming to life for a young child.
There are occasionally moments when we hear of real life being like a movie. In the best-case scenario, our lives become that of a romantic comedy or, as any Disney Fanatic would agree, a Disney movie. But sometimes, life can look a lot different than we intended.
Recently, Spirit Airlines shared how a mistake they made ended up creating a real-life Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992) scenario for a young child.

Spirit Airlines Apologizes for Putting 6-Year-Old on Wrong Flight
NBC News reported that “Spirit Airlines has apologized after it mistakenly put an unaccompanied 6-year-old, who was flying for the first time, on the wrong flight during the holiday season travel rush.”
On December 24, the outlet reported that a young child who was supposed to be bound for Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers from Philadelphia International Airport did not make the right flight. The minor was instead “incorrectly boarded” on a flight to Orlando (the land of the Walt Disney World Resort, ironically enough), according to the airline.

“The child was always under the care and supervision of a Spirit Team Member, and as soon as we discovered the error, we took immediate steps to communicate with the family and reconnect them,” Spirit wrote in a statement Saturday.
“We take the safety and responsibility of transporting all of our Guests seriously and are conducting an internal investigation,” the airline commented. “We apologize to the family for this experience.”

While the airline itself did not share any identifying information about the child, another outlet did some digging and discovered who the child was and why they were flying to Fort Myers.
The first-time flyer was going to visit their grandmother, Maria Ramos. Ramos spoke with the outlet, sharing her frustration at the incident.
She shared how she discovered that her grandson had been on the wrong flight: “I ran inside the plane to the flight attendant and I asked her, ‘Where’s my grandson? He was handed over to you at Philadelphia?’ She said, ‘No, I had no kids with me.’”

Maria Ramos was understandably frustrated about the incident. “I want them to call me [and] let me know how my grandson ended up in Orlando,” Ramos said. “How did that happen? Did they get him off the plane? The flight attendant—after mom handed him with paperwork—did she let him go by himself? He jumped in the wrong plane by himself?”
