A Frontier Airlines flight took off from Denver, Colorado, for Orlando, Florida, but made an unexpected stop in Pensacola with one extra passenger on board.

On Tuesday, May 17, a Frontier flight attendant had the surprising task of helping deliver a baby mid-flight.

According to a Facebook post put out by Frontier Airlines, “The baby couldn’t wait, so the early and unexpected labor took place on a flight from Denver International Airport to Orlando International Airport (MCO). Diana helped the mother to the back lavatory and assisted the mother in giving birth.”

The flight crew worked fast to divert to Pensacola where paramedics met the mother and her newborn daughter at the gate.

“Diana again went above and beyond after the completion of the flight to coordinate our return to Orlando,” said the flight’s Captain, Chris Nye. “The whole crew really did a great job. I transferred controls and flying duties to my First Officer as I coordinated the diversion. Dispatch did a great job as well by suggesting Pensacola Airport and getting a gate and paramedics ready for us. This was a job well done, and I was happy to see everyone working together to successfully deliver a newborn on an aircraft!”

The mother, who remained unnamed, decided to make her new daughter’s middle name “Sky,” and as fortune would have it, the Frontier aircraft she was born on had a mother/daughter wolf pairing on the tail.

Frontier is a common appearance at MCO, offering Disney fans reliable, cost-friendly air travel to and from their Walt Disney World Resort Vacation. We at Disney Fanatic recently shared the news that Frontier was in competition with JetBlue over the acquisition of another budget carrier, Spirit Airlines. While a deal has not yet been reached, it is bound to cause a change in how Disney World Guests bookend their Florida visits.
