Jerry Bruckheimer has stated that new Pirates of the Caribbean movies are still headed audiences' way!

Fear not, Pirates of the Caribbean fans! If you have been anxiously keeping an eye on the news pertaining to Johnny Depp, the American actor’s iconic pirate character Captain Jack Sparrow, and the rumors about Disney’s possible abandonment of the entire pirate movie franchise, then there is hope!

We had recently learned from Australian actress Margot Robbie that her version of Pirates 6, the sixth Pirates of the Caribbean film, was not actually happening. However, longtime pirate film producer Jerry Bruckheimer has refuted that statement.

According to Variety, Bruckheimer is not only expecting the Margot Robbie movie and its script to “come forward at a certain point”, but he is also anticipating that Disney is indeed continuing with new installments in the franchise (despite what the rumor mill has been saying)!

“We developed two different stories for ‘Pirates’ and the other one’s going forward first, so that’s what we’re working on, to try to get that one made,” Bruckheimer said.

The Margot Robbie Pirates of the Caribbean film was canceled, according to Margot Robbie herself — but producer Jerry Bruckheimer says otherwise.

Many Pirates of the Caribbean fans were still irate about Disney’s treatment of Johnny Depp in relation to the Depp vs Heard trial and Disney’s supposed plans to keep Captain Jack Sparrow out of any upcoming pirate movies in the series.

Many fans were also unhappy about the potential Margot Robbie pirate installment — but the rumor about Disney’s possible plans to stop adding any new content to the franchise at all may have been a timely reminder to audiences that a Margot Robbie pirate movie might be better than no new Pirates of the Caribbean movies at all.

Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney have still not confirmed whether or not they have been trying to convince Johnny Depp to come back to his role as Captain Jack Sparrow, even though some sources do say that Johnny Depp is already back onboard and is preparing to film Pirates 6.

For now, Captain Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, and Captain Elizabeth Swann fans can all be relieved to learn that the Walt Disney team does at least plan on continuing the franchise. The world of pirates is rife with adventure and storytelling potential, after all — whether the adventures and swordfights take place at sea on ships like the Flying Dutchman or in charming ports like Port Royal!

Are you eager to see more Pirates of the Caribbean movies, regardless of who is starring in them?
