While many have wondered if Disney was truly out of the dog house after the difficult year it had in 2023, the company might be in better shape than we think.
The year 2023 was a difficult one for the Walt Disney Company. When Disney CEO Bob Iger came back to the helm, the company began a long year of cleaning up the mess that former Disney CEO Bob Chapek left in his wake. From layoffs affecting 7000 people (4000 employees lost their jobs and 3000 job postings were canceled) to restructuring and strategizing company assets, Disney has gone through a lot.

Disney Wins Five Awards at the Golden Globes
One of the biggest struggles Disney faced in 2023 was at the box office and with its streaming services. Many feel like the quality of Disney’s storytelling has suffered immensely. However, 2024 opened with an achievement that shows Disney might be on the up and up.
While it certainly helps that Disney owns as many production studios as it does, the Golden Globes proved these investments to be wise. Disney, the umbrella, took home five awards through its companies, including FX, FX Productions, Hulu Originals, and Searchlight Pictures.

Poor Things (Searchlight Pictures)
- Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy)
- Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) – Emma Stone
While this might seem like a small achievement, it could be a sign of great things to come for the Mouse House this year!
