Controversial Disney World Restaurant Changes Operations After Guest Pushback

When most people think about Walt Disney World planning, they picture Lightning Lane reservations and ride strategies. But experienced visitors know there’s another part of the trip that can be just as competitive: dining reservations.

Many of Disney’s most popular restaurants fill up quickly, and guests often plan their days around securing a table at a favorite location. One restaurant that has become particularly popular since its debut is The Cake Bake Shop at Disney’s BoardWalk.

The beautifully themed restaurant opened in 2024 and immediately drew attention from Disney fans. Some were curious about the menu, others about the elaborate desserts, and many were intrigued by the luxurious interior design that feels more like a boutique café than a typical theme park restaurant.

Now the location is making a small but meaningful change that could make it easier for guests to visit.

Breakfast Now Runs Later in the Morning

Until now, breakfast service at The Cake Bake Shop ended at 10:30 a.m. each day. That meant guests hoping to start their morning there needed to arrive fairly early.

Beginning March 11, 2026, the breakfast window will stay open until 11:30 a.m.

For many Disney visitors, that extra hour could be extremely helpful. Vacation mornings don’t always go according to plan. Sometimes families sleep in, transportation takes longer than expected, or guests simply want a slower start to the day.

With the extended schedule, guests now have a better chance of fitting breakfast into their plans.

A Restaurant Known for More Than Just Cake

Although the name focuses on desserts, The Cake Bake Shop offers much more than sweets. The restaurant serves a full menu throughout the day, including breakfast dishes, brunch options, lunch items, afternoon tea, dinner, and cocktails.

Its location along Crescent Lake also makes it an appealing stop for guests exploring the BoardWalk area. Visitors staying at nearby resorts like Yacht Club, Beach Club, or BoardWalk Inn can easily walk to the restaurant.

Many guests also stop by after visiting EPCOT, which sits just a short walk away through the International Gateway entrance.

Holiday Brunch Expands the Experience

In addition to the extended breakfast hours, The Cake Bake Shop will also feature special brunch offerings during two major spring holidays.

During Easter weekend and Mother’s Day weekend, brunch will be available from 7:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

These longer dining windows give families celebrating those holidays a chance to enjoy a relaxed meal without feeling rushed.

Holiday brunch has become increasingly popular at Walt Disney World, especially at restaurants that offer unique atmospheres and specialty menus.

Booking Tips for Guests

Anyone hoping to visit The Cake Bake Shop should consider booking a reservation ahead of time.

Guests can reserve through the My Disney Experience app, the Walt Disney World website, or through OpenTable.

Because the restaurant has become one of the more talked-about dining experiences on property, reservations can fill quickly during busy travel seasons.

Small Change, Big Impact

Extending breakfast hours by one hour might seem like a minor update, but changes like this can make a Disney vacation easier to manage.

Park schedules are packed, and guests are often trying to balance attractions, shows, transportation, and meals. Having a little more flexibility in the morning can make planning much simpler.

For visitors staying near the BoardWalk—or anyone looking for a unique breakfast spot—the extended hours at The Cake Bake Shop could quickly make this restaurant an even more appealing stop during their Walt Disney World trip.
