Disney’s BoardWalk is about to welcome The Cake Bake Shop, a highly anticipated bakery and restaurant that has already made headlines for its premium offerings—but not in a good way. The initial reveal of the shop’s prices caused an uproar among Disney fans, leading the restaurant to revise its menu before it even opened to the public.

Shocking Prices Cause a Stir

Fans got their first look at The Cake Bake Shop’s menu when construction walls came down in early October. The reaction was swift and overwhelmingly negative, with many fans taking to social media to express their disappointment. Prices like $23 for an egg sandwich, $32 for a burger, and $26 for a single slice of cake left even the most seasoned Disney-goers questioning whether they could justify dining at the new location.

The outrage was compounded by comparisons to The Cake Bake Shop’s other locations in Indiana, where many of the same dishes were offered at significantly lower prices. For example, a Pesto Burrata at the Indiana locations was priced at $28, while at Disney, the same dish was listed for $34.

Quick Action to Address Fan Concerns

In response to the backlash, The Cake Bake Shop made swift changes to its pricing structure. As of mid-October, several items on the menu saw price reductions. The Pesto Burrata, for example, was reduced to $28.99—much closer to the price at the Indiana locations. Other items, like the $23 egg sandwich, were also adjusted, though some desserts saw a slight price increase, such as the Pixie Fetti Birthday Cake, which went from $22 to $22.99.

These changes show that The Cake Bake Shop is listening to fan feedback and making efforts to meet expectations before its official opening.

Fans Divided Over Price Cuts

While some Disney fans are pleased with the price adjustments, others remain skeptical. “It’s nice to see them lower prices, but $26 for a slice of cake still seems high, even for Disney,” one fan commented. For many, the initial sticker shock has left a lingering sense of doubt about whether the restaurant can live up to its price point, even with the adjustments.

Despite these concerns, The Cake Bake Shop continues to host private preview events, giving invited guests a sneak peek at what the restaurant has to offer.

A Lesson in Listening to Fans

The Cake Bake Shop’s quick response to fan feedback highlights a growing trend at Disney: the power of the guest voice. As more Disney-goers take to social media to share their thoughts, it’s becoming clear that even a large company like Disney is willing to make changes based on what its guests want.

As The Cake Bake Shop prepares to officially open, all eyes will be on whether the revised prices are enough to win over guests or if the initial backlash will leave a lasting impact. For now, it seems that Disney fans are having more influence than ever over the experiences and offerings at Walt Disney World.

  1. What a rip off. There’s cheaper food on property. I would never pay $23 for a piece of cake. Let’s sit back. and see how long they stay in business!!!

  2. They won’t last long. It’s expensive enough going to Disney, but to pay $27.00 for an egg sandwich is just crazy, as well as $23.00 for cake. You can go off property or any other place at Disney and you won’t pay those prices. Stay real, stop overpriced people.
