Disney fans waiting patiently for the upcoming launch of a mouth-watering new venue might just have to wait a little longer.
Disney’s Boardwalk Experience
Last year, the theme park announced a delicious addition coming to the park. The Cake Bake Shop Bakery by Gwendolyn Rogers offering would come to its Boardwalk location near EPCOT. The bakery would fill the vacant spot left by the closing of the area’s ESPN Club restaurant. The venue closed down around the COVID-19 pandemic after operating for almost three decades, and Disney took the opportunity to provide something fresh and exciting in its place.
Disney World describes The Cake Bake Shop as a “new bakery with a whimsical atmosphere that compliments the idyllic charm of Disney’s Boardwalk.” The venue will offer handmade cakes and pastries such as cookies, French macarons, brownies, dessert bars, pies, and cheesecakes. It is definitely anticipated to be a popular offering when it launches.
Disney Cake Bake Shop Delayed
While Disney and the official website for The Cake Bake Shop Bakery listed a 2023 opening date, this doesn’t look like it will happen in time. The official website for the bakery has removed all traces of the 2023 date from its descriptions. Instead, it now just says “coming soon.” When Disney makes these notable changes, it usually indicates a delay.
Disney World is no stranger to change and delays. The company has closed many different experiences over the years that ran their course to keep things fresh and provide new and better options. It is the nature of being a popular tourist destination with limited space and fans who hunger for fresh attractions and venues to explore.
Disney Undergoes Changes
The Boardwalk area is particularly in a constant state of growth. Disney’s charming little riverside area has a lot of dining options but has sometimes struggled with offerings. Venues such as the Atlantic City Dance Hall have been notably empty recently. The nearby Yacht and Beach Club Resorts will also be experiencing a major shakeup when their popular Stormalong Bay goes down for refurbishment in the near future.
