Walt Disney World in Florida is making sure guests are WELL aware of a major closure happening at the theme park in 2025. While attractions and offerings often go down for refurbishment, this particular one will last five months and may cause people booking hotels to search elsewhere.

This warning is far in advance because it involves a defining aspect of staying at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. The unique Stormalong Bay and Shipwreck Pool will be shutting down completely to undergo routine maintenance, a disappointment that Disney wants to make potential guests booking their visits aware of well before it happens.

Disney World’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts

Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts, located near EPCOT at Walt Disney World, offer a distinctive stay with nautical and beach themes. The Yacht Club Resort presents a New England yacht club ambiance, while the Beach Club Resort captures the charm of a seaside resort. The elegant Yacht Club features a navy and white color scheme and a timeless design, while the Beach Club boasts a beachy, coastal atmosphere with a welcoming lobby. Together, these resorts are a popular stay for many Disney World Guests.

What sets these resorts apart is the remarkable Stormalong Bay pool complex shared between them. This unique pool area features a sand-bottom pool, creating a genuine beach experience. The complex also includes a lazy river winding through lush landscaping, a shipwreck-themed water slide, and multiple quiet pools. In addition, Shipwreck Pool offers swimmers a chance to splash around near a pirate wreck. With its distinctive features and close proximity to EPCOT, Stormalong Bay and the Shipwreck Pool are major appealing factors for staying at the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts.

Disney Stormalong Bay Refurbishment

Disney World has added a notice to its website that Stormalong Bay and Shipwreck Pool will shut down from January 2025 to May 2025. Scott Gustin brought the announcement to light via Twitter/X.

From January 2025 through May 2025, Stormalong Bay and Shipwreck Pool at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts will be closed for routine maintenance. Guests may see or hear construction work during daytime hours. During this time, Guests are welcome to swim at the Tidal, Admiral and Dunes Cove leisure pools.

Guests, especially ones with young children, often use the pools at Disney hotels during their stay. Hearing of such a major closure now is important to prevent as many negative incidents and unhappy vacationers as possible. Disney’s booking cast members will likely start to make potential visitors aware of this notice now as well. However, many people use outside agents for travel plans, some of which might not pass on the memo.

As much as refurbishments cut into vacation plans, they are necessary to ensure Walt Disney World functions correctly. Yacht and Beach Club have several other pool areas to utilize, so this Disney Stormalong Bay refurbishment isn’t entirely a deal breaker.
