NEW: DeSantis’s Legal Team Files Motion to Disqualify Judge in Disney Lawsuit

DeSantis Board hires conservative icon for Disney legal fight

In the next set of developments to overtake the Disney vs. DeSantis feud, there has been another escalation, and this time, it comes from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. The Disney vs. DeSantis feud has been long documented and has been overtaking headlines for a long time now. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis kicked off things by dissolving the Reedy Creek Improvement District board and replacing it with the Central Florida Tourism District board in apparent retaliation for Disney speaking out against the “Don’t Say Gay” debacle. But Disney pulled an ingenious maneuver with their King Charles III clause in the agreement they signed with the CFTOD board, which in turn led to the board voiding the agreement. Walt Disney World filed a suit against Governor DeSantis in response to this, and the hand-picked board also sued Disney in turn.

Disney CEO Bob Iger warned the Florida Governor about these continuous attacks on the part of the Sunshine State against Walt Disney World Resort and the Walt Disney Company and posed the question to him during the earnings call in early May wherein he asked, “Does the state want us to invest more, employ more people, and pay more money in taxes, or not?”

The threat of taking Disney’s business elsewhere materialized when Disney canceled its Lake Nona project, which was announced in 2021. The move would have brought thousands of jobs to Florida’s shore, and its removal, as experts say, will cost the Sunshine State.

Now, there’s been a new development wherein the DeSantis legal team has filed a motion to disqualify Chief Judge Mark E Walker in the lawsuit versus Disney.

Journalist Scott Gustin took to Twitter to share the news. In the motion, it is detailed that the

“Case involves claims that Defendants retaliated against Walt Disney Parks and Resorts U.S., Inc. based on Disney viewpoints. Yet two previous times, in two unrelated cases, the Court sua sponte offered “Disney” as an example of state retaliation…could reasonably imply that the Court has prejudged the retaliation question here.”

Fans are unimpressed with the move calling the state’s handling of this issue “amateur hour.”

Another shared, “Translation: ‘This guy actually obeys the law because we’ve had to deal with this guy before, and we can’t have that!'”

A third fan responded, “Desantis makes me feel ashamed as a republican. I hope he’s not taking the republican candidate.”
