Confirmed: Disney’s Animal Kingdom Reopens Part of DinoLand U.S.A.

A DinoLand U.S.A. snack cart remains operational at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park despite the land's official closure on February 1, 2026.

The cart, branded with the green Dino Institute logo, continues serving guests near one of the former land's shuttered entrances. X user @greencheetah99 shared the discovery on X (formerly known as Twitter):

The Dino Institute still lives on at this snack cart!

The kiosk sells pre-packaged ice cream and frozen treats, including Mickey ice cream bars and Mickey cookies-and-cream ice cream sandwiches, as well as bottled Coca-Cola beverages.

DinoLand U.S.A. began closing in January 2025 when Chester & Hester's Dino-Rama, including Fossil Fun Games, Chester & Hester's Dinosaur Treasures, and TriceraTop Spin, shut down. The Boneyard playground closed in September 2025.

The final operating day for DINOSAUR, Restaurantosaurus, and the remaining Quick-Service kiosks was February 1, 2026, marking the complete closure of the original theme park land.

At D23 Expo 2024, Walt Disney Imagineering confirmed Pueblo Esperanza would replace DinoLand U.S.A. The Tropical Americas-themed land joins existing continent-themed areas, including Africa and Asia, at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

Pueblo Esperanza will feature two Encanto attractions: an animal carousel and an experience based on Casita, the magical house from the 2021 film. Disney is also retheming DINOSAUR into an Indiana Jones attraction that Imagineers promise will differ from Disneyland Resort's Indiana Jones Adventure despite sharing the same track and ride system.

The Dino Institute, featured on the snack cart, was the research facility guests visited during the DINOSAUR attraction. In DinoLand U.S.A. lore, Chester and Hester drew inspiration from the Institute when building their roadside attraction nearby.

Walt Disney World Resort hasn't announced when the Dino Institute snack cart will be removed or rethemed. It will likely disappear as construction on Pueblo Esperanza progresses.
