It was not that long ago when Disney leadership announced that its Genie+ system would no longer hold a fixed rate for Disney World Guests. Due to the fact that the extra-cost feature could not be bought in advance of one’s visit, the sudden flexibility created yet another challenge for families struggling to budget efficiently for their next Disney Vacation. But now it appears Disney has made a move to remedy that confusion.
The price for Disney Genie+ will continue to vary, but it appears that parents and other would-be Guests can now see what Genie+ is going to cost on the day of their Theme Park Reservation.
The news was shared by Theme Park Insider Scott Gustin on Twitter, who said, “A small but positive update: Disney is now prominently displaying the price of Genie+ on the app home screen and tip board.”

While one could still end up paying up to $10 more per person than previously, this subtle notification helps provide some clarity to an “optimization” system that is continuously criticized for being too complicated. This “positive” update also comes amid other Disney World updates regarding price increases. Disney Fanatic reported earlier today that both Disney World Annual Pass Tiers and one-day Theme Park tickets would face significant price hikes starting next month. But there was one more positive update. Disney officially confirmed that Guests can now cancel dining reservations up to 2 hours ahead of dinner time without facing a cancellation fee, a significant change that has a chance to create last-minute flexibility that can increase Guests’ overall Park experience.
