Another Disney Ride Closes and Fans Demand a Retheme

Aladdin Ride Closed Disney

Another day and another Disney Park attraction is shutting down for some much-needed care, and would-be Guests are going to have to wait to take another magic carpet ride.

January and February are known by many Disney Fanatics as the time of year when rides tend to shut down for some much-needed refurbishment, and usually at a time after scores of Guests have complained about how they have fallen into disrepair. Over at Walt Disney World Resort, the list of closed rides most notably includes Splash Mountain, Kali River Rapids, and soon-t0-be Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith. Over at the Disneyland Resort, that list includes Haunted Mansion and The Indiana Jones Adventure. And, now, over at Disneyland Paris, that list includes the Aladdin-themed attraction, Flying Carpets Over Agrabah.

According to Disneyland Paris insider, @DLPReport, “Flying Carpets Over Agrabah is completely closed. The Attraction has been having issues with the ride vehicles as of late. All a bit sad.”

But while our Insider may find it sad, other Disneyland Paris fans are not so upset. Nearly identical to the Magic Kingdom attraction found in Adventureland, the ride taken from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ classic, which they call in French Les Tapis Volants, has become rather out of place compared to the predominantly Pixar-themed area surrounding it at Walt Disney Studios Park.

One fan commented, “I have to feel that this ride is the ugly sister of Studios I’m afraid. It’s always felt to me very out of place and a ride that was put there to fill a gap! Retire it please I beg you.”

Another fan agreed and suggested, “Retheme it to a luca ride, vespa or sea monster cars and drop a little Italian snack hut next to it.”

As of right now, however, the does not appear to be any retheme in the works, and fans will be able to embark on magic carpet rides sometime in the near future. Or, continue to wait to see just how long Flying Carpets Over Agrabah will be able to stand the test of time as Disneyland Paris’ second gate continues its incredibly ambitious Park-wide transformation.
