Did Disney Just Drop a MAJOR Hint About a Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Retheme?

Walt Disney World Resort is one of the best places for families to vacation, as there are a ton of great places to stay, amazing places to eat, and even more incredible rides for everyone in the family to enjoy. Each of Disney World’s four theme parks has areas that children — and children of all ages — will love. While much of the Resort is designed to be family-friendly, there are some rides and attractions that target a more adventurous audience. That is especially true at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

In 2019, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened in Hollywood Studios, bringing two more exciting attractions to a theme park still forming its new identity. Not far from Galaxy’s Edge, Guests can find two high-intensity rides that send your stomach into your throat — Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith.

On February 20, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will be closing and undergoing a major refurbishment. Many are speculating that the ride may even be receiving a retheme. Disney has not commented on the possible retheme, but a new character sighting has many wondering if Disney just dropped a big hint about what the retheme could be.

On February 1, it was revealed that Disney had brought some rare characters to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, including Vacation Goofy, Edna Mode, and Powerline Max. Max in his Powerline costume is typically a character that is reserved for special events, like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. However, could Powerline Max suddenly showing up indicate that Disney is going to retheme Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster after the Powerline concert that Max is trying to get to in the film A Goofy Movie?

Speculation about a retheme has been running rampant for weeks. In late December, Aerosmith frontman, Steven Tyler, was accused of sexual assault against a minor in the 1970s. A lawsuit was also filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court by the woman accusing Tyler — with the lawsuit claiming that Tyler “groomed and manipulated” her.

These accusations have many people thinking that Disney wants to distance itself from Tyler by changing the ride. Add to that the fact that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is nearly 25 years old, the time is ripe for change.
