Disney’s Hollywood Studios Theme Park has evolved drastically over the last decade, as some of its most iconic attractions and landmarks are removed and replaced. Fans have watched tearfully as treasures like the Sorcerer’s Hat, the Backlot Tour, The Great Movie Ride, and even The Osbourne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights were all retired to make way for new attractions. Now, it appears that Walt Disney Imagineers may have set their repurposing sights on yet another Park icon: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith.

The official address for the rocking indoor coaster with its iconic horizontal launch into a flip–which sits next door to The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror–was found on a notice of commencement filed with Orange County, Florida, by the Walt Disney World Resort to “provide labor, material, and/or electrical for construction.” The project is being undertaken specifically by Buena Vista Construction Company: the team currently behind the much-debated retheme of Splash Mountain to the Princess and the Frog-themed Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

It is unclear at this time, however, just when this work will take place.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster’s sister attraction at Disneyland Paris’ second gate, Walt Disney Studios Park, recently underwent a retheme of its own to become Avengers Assemble: Flight Force at Marvel’s new Avengers Campus. Starring Iron Man/Tony Star, and Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, it appears that the high-speed thrill ride could face almost immediate change after extreme fan dissatisfaction upon opening. It is unclear at this time, what retheme, if any, will be decided for the Central Florida location.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith is one of the most beloved Disney World roller coasters. If a retheme is finally in the works, there is no doubt in this writer’s mind that a storm of debate and controversy among fans will not be far behind.

Disney World describes the attraction on its website as the following:
