Guests heading into EPCOT over the next few weeks may want to prepare for a mix of construction and new experiences as they make their way around World Showcase.
The Germany Pavilion, in particular, has become one of the more active construction areas in the park. Walls have appeared in several spots, access to certain locations has changed, and refurbishment work continues throughout the pavilion.
Yet Disney has managed to introduce a new option right in the middle of all that activity.
It may be a relatively small addition, but it gives guests another convenient stop during their trip around World Showcase. The timing is also notable, with the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival preparing to bring even more activity to the park later this month.
Germany Pavilion Is Surrounded by Construction
Before getting to what's new, it's worth looking at just how much work is underway across Germany.
A large portion of the Volkskunst shop has closed as refurbishment work continues. Construction walls also surround the public restrooms in the pavilion.
Other projects have affected the exterior of Germany as well, including work involving portions of the roof.
Despite all that activity, the pavilion remains open. Guests can still explore much of the area, shop at available locations, and stop for something to eat. Biergarten Restaurant also continues operating with its German-inspired buffet and live entertainment.
Still, construction can make getting around Germany a little more complicated than usual. Walls and temporary access changes have altered how guests reach certain locations.
In the middle of that work, Disney has now introduced another option.
A New Walk-Up Spot Arrives at Sommerfest
Guests can now find a new walk-up bar near Sommerfest at the entrance to Biergarten Restaurant.
Rather than operating as an entirely separate ordering location, the bar works alongside Sommerfest.
Guests first order their beverages at the Sommerfest register. After paying, they head over to the nearby bar to pick up their drinks. Guests ordering food still collect those items from the regular Sommerfest window.
The bar currently offers several German beers. Options include Schöfferhofer Grapefruit Hefeweizen, Bitburger Premium Pilsner and Warsteiner Dunkel. Water is available as well.
It's a simple addition, but the location gives guests a clearly visible place to grab a drink while other areas of the Germany Pavilion remain affected by refurbishment work.
That's especially important because construction has made another nearby location a little more difficult to find.
Weinkeller Access Has Changed
Weinkeller remains open during the construction of the Germany Pavilion, but guests can't currently use its exterior entrance.
Instead, visitors need to enter through Stein Haus to reach the bar.
That change may not create much trouble for guests who already know their way around Germany. However, someone walking through World Showcase without knowing about the alternate entrance could easily pass by without realizing Weinkeller remains available.
The new Sommerfest bar offers those guests a clearer alternative.
They can place an order at Sommerfest, pick up their beer nearby, and continue through World Showcase without having to navigate the alternate Weinkeller entrance.
That added convenience may become even more valuable beginning August 27.
EPCOT Food & Wine Festival Returns August 27
The 2026 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival runs from August 27 through November 21.
During the nearly three-month event, guests can sample food, desserts, and beverages inspired by cuisines from around the world. Festival marketplaces throughout EPCOT offer smaller dishes alongside beer, wine, cocktails,s and other specialty drinks.
The festival doesn't require a separate event ticket. Guests can experience Food & Wine with regular EPCOT admission and, when required, a valid park reservation, though food and beverages cost extra.
Food may receive much of the attention, but there is more happening around the park.
Guests can also find entertainment, merchandise, scavenger hunts, and other limited-time offerings. The Eat to the Beat Concert Series brings live music to America Gardens Theatre throughout the event.
World Showcase becomes an especially popular place to explore as guests move from pavilion to pavilion and stop at festival marketplaces along the way.
Germany's new walk-up option will be waiting when those festival crowds arrive.
A Small Addition During a Busy Time at EPCOT
The Germany Pavilion isn't getting a massive new attraction with this latest change. Instead, Disney has added something much simpler while refurbishment work continues around it.
Guests still have to navigate construction walls, closed sections,s and altered entrances throughout parts of Germany. At the same time, most of the pavilion remains accessible, including the Biergarten Restaurant and the Weinkeller via its alternate entrance.
The new Sommerfest bar adds another convenient option to that list.
With the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival beginning August 27, guests will soon have even more reasons to spend time exploring World Showcase.
For those making their way through Germany, there will be plenty of construction to see—but now there's also a new place to stop along the way.
