Disney Begins Turning Away Families in 2026: One Common Stroller Mistake to Avoid

There’s a moment every Disney trip builds toward—the one where you finally reach the entrance, tickets ready, kids excited, day ahead of you.

For some families in 2026, that moment is coming to a halt before it even begins.

At both Walt Disney World and Disneyland, stroller rules are being enforced more strictly than many guests expected. And it’s not just slowing people down—it’s turning them away.

The Rule Everyone Thinks They Understand

Most Disney fans have heard about stroller size limits. It’s not new information.

But what’s catching families off guard right now is how seriously Disney is taking it.

Security teams are no longer giving the benefit of the doubt. If your stroller doesn’t meet the exact requirements, you’re not getting through.

No warnings. No exceptions.

The Numbers That Decide Your Day

Here’s what Disney requires:

  • Maximum width: 31 inches
  • Maximum length: 52 inches

Those limits haven’t changed. But the margin for error has disappeared.

Even a slight overage—something as small as an inch—can stop your day before it starts.

Where Families Are Getting Surprised

The biggest issue isn’t oversized strollers. It’s borderline ones.

Many modern designs are built right up to the limit. Add one extra feature, and suddenly you’re over.

That’s why families are being caught off guard.

A stroller that worked fine last year might not make it through security this year—especially if you’ve added anything to it.

The Wagon Problem Isn’t Going Away

One of the most consistent issues remains stroller wagons.

They’re popular. They’re convenient. And they’re still not allowed.

Even models marketed as “Disney-friendly” or push-style are being denied entry. Families who bring them are being told the same thing: they need another option.

What Happens Next?

If your stroller doesn’t pass inspection, you have to make a decision quickly.

Most families end up choosing between:

  • Renting a stroller inside the park
  • Booking a same-day rental from a company like ScooterBug
  • Returning to their car or hotel to swap strollers

None of those options are ideal—especially when you’re trying to start your day.

Why This Is Happening Now

Disney isn’t tightening rules just for the sake of it.

The parks are more crowded than ever, and space is becoming harder to manage. Construction projects, narrow walkways, and increased attendance are all putting pressure on how guests move around.

Smaller strollers help keep things flowing.

But for families, it means less flexibility.

The Smart Move Before You Travel

Before you head out, take a few minutes to check your stroller.

Measure it fully assembled. Include every attachment. Don’t guess.

Because right now, guessing is what’s getting families turned away.

The Reality of 2026 Visits

Disney trips already require planning—reservations, Lightning Lane strategies, hotel decisions.

Now, stroller size is part of that list.

And it might be one of the most important things to get right.

  1. I am so glad the parks are encouraging this. I see too many parents with double strollers or extra large strollers with not toddlers in them but 8-10 year old kids. The kids are in the strollers playing games on their or their parent’s phones while the parents push them around the parks. They also use them as pack mules to carry all the stuff they think they need for the day.

  2. So Denise I suppose families with multiples aren’t supposed to go to Disney! What exactly do you suggest for those of us with twins and triplets we just have to stay home and wait till our kids are 5-6 years old and don’t require a stroller any longer?

Clearly you are not a multiple’s mom and your non-support of families with multiples is not appreciated!

  3. Reality is that you should take kids when they no longer need a stroller. 1-6 year olds often don’t even remember going. Take lots of pictures and pay attention to what they’re doing instead of your phone. You can’t get memories back. (Based on real events)

  4. We were there last week and there were just too many people there to enjoy it. Many of the rides had very long wait times and the shows such as Indiana Jones was only half of the show that we experienced in the past. The railroad at the Magic Kingdom only went backwards and forwards.A very short ride! We always loved going to Disney. Our first time was in 1974 when it was just the Magic Kingdom, but after this disappointing experience, we are done. We spent more time riding the transportation system and waiting in line. We had a 4 day pass but only used 3 days. We only went in the evenings. The parade in Magic Kingdom at night time was the only thing we found magical.

  5. Nothing like parents using them also as battering rams. The Achilles and ankle bone can only take so much. I’m glad they are cracking down on them.

  6. Here’s an idea: stop using the largest stroller possible. You’re not packing for an Arctic expedition. And there are lockers. Take the smallest, lightest stroller possible. You’ll be less exhausted from pushing an SUV, and it will actually fit in the shops. It will do less to contribute to the increasingly crowded park.
And honestly, maybe think about not taking kids until they’re old enough to walk most of the day.
