Two Disney parks are changing their rules on what guests can and can’t wear to the theme parks.
Disney parks enforce a casual dress code designed to maintain a family-friendly atmosphere and ensure guest safety on attractions. Clothing must be appropriate for a public setting, meaning outfits that are excessively torn, revealing, or feature offensive language or imagery may be denied entry.

In the past, we’ve seen guests face issues for wearing everything from Japanese military uniformsĀ to shirts that read “That’s So Gay.”
Most notably, costumes for guests aged 14 and older are generally prohibited. The exception is special events, such as Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom Park and Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney California Adventure Park.
Some Disney resorts are more flexible on this rule than others. One just announced a rule change, effective later this year.

Disney Parks Change Costume Restrictions
This Halloween season, guests will be able to wear the full character costumes of their choice at Tokyo Disney Resort between September 15 and 30 and October 16 and 31.
During this timeframe, guests are able to take advantage of paid changing facilities.

Parkgoers are asked to “refrain from changing clothes or applying makeup in public facilities, including restrooms inside and outside the park, multi-purpose restrooms, and coin lockers,” or to change at their hotels or homes.
From October to October 15, guests must follow the park’s typical outfit rules, which prohibit entry to “ages 12 and over dressed in full character costume.”

Tokyo Disney Resort allows more flexibility for what guests can wear during spooky season than the domestic parks and Paris.
At Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort, day-to-day guests can only wear costumes if they’re under the age of 14. These rules only bend for special events.
Disneyland Paris typically permits costumes on Halloween itself, but otherwise restricts guests aged 12 and over from wearing full costumes or masks (unless the latter is required for medical purposes).
Conversely, Shanghai Disneyland is arguably even more flexible than Tokyo Disney Resort.

In 2025, it allowed adult guests to wear Halloween costumes that met certain requirements ā such as not wearing anything longer than ankle length, carrying props longer or wider than 50 centimeters, or bringing anything that could be mistaken for a weapon ā between October 4 and November 1.
Do you plan on spending Halloween at a Disney park this year?

Sad state of affairs a dress code is needed. Was on a cruise and table next to me was wearing full length black lace. Her butt crack had the seam there. Enough already. Pajamas at Walmart. See thru blouses. Men have figured no wife beaters unless at home. Women get your body covered.
So true!! Many times, Iāve felt the need to say, āMaāam, excuse me, your butt crack is in my childās faceā, but of course I canāt say that because it would be construed as sexual harassment. Iām not sure why itās not considered sexual harassment when people leave their home wearing something that showcases 80% of their front and or 95% of their butt (at eye level for kids). That is so gross!
I can understand the shirts but come one kids aged 12 or over can’t come in wearing costumes and only people under that age can come in wearing costumes like teens wish to enjoy that fun too they ain’t considered old im 17 and I wear Disney costumes
I am totally fine with dress codes. I am sick of seeing people’s ass crack and other things hanging out. And pull up your damn pants!!! No one wants to see your freaking underwear…makes you look like an idiot!
I love the dress codeā¼ļøPeople should have more respect for themselves and othersā¼ļø
Our intergenerational family of five will be doing Halloween on the High Seas on the Fantasy. Oct. 28th to November 1 can’t wait!!!
I love Dapper Day! Nothing like enjoying the parks while dressed to the nines!
FYI, the āfadā males wearing their pants low to show of their underwear started in prison! Itās so Nasty!
We were at one of the Disney resorts last week in Orlando. Two women had swimsuit thong dental floss asses hanging out! Disgusting for a family to have to look at. Disney did nothing!
I like sparsly clothed females and I wear a wife beater daily. But. I don’t go to Disney land. My kids are 30+ years on. It makes sense to dress accordingly when going to Disney land. It’s for kids mostly so it should go without saying
Impressed. About time someone stands up to protect children and others from being subjected to vulgar or inappropriate clothing.
You are ALL absolutely pathetic.
I am fully supportive of people wearing what they want. I feel sorry for the kids of these helicopter parents. Let them explore the world we live in.
A few years ago, I remember being in Disneyland and saw a woman wearing a pair of too-short shorts (with her cheeks hanging out), a tube top (without a bra under it), and a pair of 6-inch heels. I remember it so well because she was pushing a baby carriage! All I could think was “she is setting such a good example for her child and any other children here. I am *very* glad that they have a dress code. Now, if Disney will just enforce it…
I remember years ago they had a dress code. My two brothers and my uncle went to Disnenyland for the eveminh and they weren’t going to let my brother in because he had a full beard. This was in the sixty. Then they got real lacks, glad they came back with a dress code.
I remember years ago they had a dress code. My two brothers and my uncle went to Disneyland for the eveing and they weren’t going to let my brother in because he had a full beard. They were real strick back then. Walt was still alive. This was in the sixty. Then they got real lacks, glad they came back with a dress code.
I think that as humans we are sad. We have learn to accept cruelty, abuse, betral, mutilation, all kinds of atrocities right on the 5 o’clock news, but when it comes to the human body we still can’t handle it after 300,000 years..
I am glad they gave a new dress code. The Houston rodeo just had to enforce one this year. It is so sad that people have no self respect or respect for others. A family friendly event is not the place for inappropriately dressed people. No one wants to look at someoneās big boobs or big rear hanging out of clothing and especially not at eye level for a child. Save it for the nightclubs.
I am all for the dress code. Dress respectfully. But now I guess I will never go to Disney world. Cause I am an adult that like to dress up. Wow. This sucks. I was gonna dress up as baymax when I went.
I think those that are diagnosed with mental handicaps should be able to wear costumes if they wish. There should be a little wiggle room for them to wear something so they feel included.
I like that they are setting a dress code, I just wish more places would implament one.
It is so sad about our countries feddish with clothing attire. There are nudes beaches everywhere in Europe. It is not the issue of what you wear but how you wear it. Now speaking for myself. I stay clothed. It depends on body style. If you are 5foot5 and weigh 500lbs that is sick. But if you have a good looking body there is nothing wrong with showing some skin. If you have huge boobs and wear something nice that is fine but not if theyare flopping half way out. But come on people we are born naked let’s not be such prudes.p
Yes, I do agree that those with certain diagnosed cognitive impairments should be given special permission and be allowed to wear costumes on their very special visit to this very special place.
As a senior citizen I am a supporter of the dress code. As adults we should know what to wear and where to wear it.
Iām glad I didnāt buy these tickets. Tell me I canāt wear this and that. Donāt worry Iāll have my own Disney party at the house for the kids. They can change all they want and have a great time. Itās sad who a few apples mess it up for me children including teenagers
This upsets me. My daughter is autistic and 14 yet has the mind of a 10 year old. There should be exceptions for children with disabilities. They wont understand this not one bit.
Comments do not pass the vibe check. Let people be who they are and stop projecting your own ideals onto others. I’d argue that people who dress the way they want, regardless of whose delicate sensibilities it offends, have more self respect than the lot of you. Because they choose to adorn THEIR bodies with what satisfies THEMSELVES. As opposed to having a closet full of clothes chosen to make others happy. THAT is weird.
Back in the old days, 1967, we attended Grad nite at Disneyland in nice dresses and the boys wore shirt and ties. Boy how things have changed. Come to think of it not sure if our high school set the dress code or Disney. Probably the high school since Disney is just now working on dress codes for inside the park.
It was really not enjoyable wearing a dress and trying to get in and out of some of the rides.
My son’s oldest friend is Autistic, she has dressed as Maleficent or other Disney characters since we met at the park 15 years ago, the costumes made her feel safe and more outgoing. Great plan banning Autistic people from feeling safe Disney
So the $1,000 my son spent on Star Wars clothing will be banned from the place he bought it? Good planning Disney
Wyattspoppa your grandson can wear his Star Wars costume anytime if he’s under 14 and at certain times in September and October if he’s older than that.
People need to go back to school and learn to spell. Gracious, it’s embarrassing.
