Disney Parks all over the world are renowned for the immersive experience they provide to Guests. Whether it’s a domestic Disney Resort like Walt Disney World Resort (with Parks like Disneys Hollywood Studios) and Disneyland Resort (with Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure) in Central Florida and Southern California or any of the international ones like Shanghai Disneyland, Tokyo Disney Resort, Disneyland Paris, and more, each Disney Park delivers the ultimate Disney experience to fans.

It’s no surprise that fans often want more; for example, over the years, fans have had many requests for a third Disney Park to be built in the United States (although this is primarily because of how overcrowded the two domestic Disney Parks have become). But the US isn’t the only country where rumors of a third Disney Park have been going around.

The Walt Disney Company and Disney Parks in China

Disney’s relationship with China is fairly well-known among the Disney community. Disney CEO Bob Iger has a solid working relationship with the CCP, enough that he did what was considered impossible at the time and spearheaded the opening of the Shanghai Disney Resort in mainland China.

In fact, even though some Disney movies have tanked in China recently, Bob Iger returning to the helm also meant that Disney released its first movies in China after years of tighter restrictions earlier this year (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Antman and the Wasp: Quantumania).

Rumor: A Third Disney Park is to be built in China

In August of last year, reports online revealed that Disney had reportedly begun work on its third Resort-hotel in Shanghai Disney Resort. Be it because of this, or simply because, like in the US, Disney fans wanted to see another Disney Park in the region of China, recently, rumors have been swirling that Disney is building a third Disney Park there.

Shanghai Disney Resort and Hong Kong Disneyland are already popular Disney vacation destinations. Guests will remember that Shanghai Disney Resort was the first Disney Park to see a TRON attraction, and Hong Kong Disneyland has been working away at its Frozen-themed land.

But is it possible that with these two Parks’ success, Disney is planning a third Park?

Fact check

Per outlet Yicai Global, while “Rumors that The Walt Disney Company will build another Disneyland in a major Chinese city have been circulating, but it is unlikely that the US entertainment giant will construct a third resort in the country.” The rumors have placed the possible third Park at Tianjin, a city near Beijing, Wuhan in central Hubei province, or Chengdu in southwestern Sichuan province.

The report cited Pan Feng, the Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism director, and the China Theme Park Research Institute head.

Earlier this week, Reuters even released a report clearing up the confusion stating that a Chinese official had spoken out about the rumor that Disney was in talks with the city of Wuhan over a potential project; it was fake.

While it’s unsurprising that the Disney community wants to see one more Disney Park in their city or hometown, as of the publishing of this article, there is no official word of plans for a third Disney Park being built in China.

We at Disney Fanatic will be following this story and any developments!
