To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the popular animated Disney movie Lilo & Stitch, Disney Fairy Tale Weddings complemented D23 and Aulani’s tandem festivities with its own treat: shared images and moments from a recent tropical wedding that took place in the Rose Court Garden at Disneyland Resort!
According to Disney’s Ever After blog, this was a “wedding inspired by ‘ohana'”, which is the Hawaiian word for “family” that permeated the plot of Lilo & Stitch (a 2002 Disney movie about a Hawaiian girl who befriends a blue Elvis-loving alien named Stitch or Experiment 626). The bride and groom (Leanna and AJ) blended their love of tiki bars, the Disney movie Lilo & Stitch, and Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto for a wedding that turned Disneyland’s Rose Court Garden into “a tropical paradise”.
Decor (including palm fawns and pink or orange flowers) was used to make the gazebo in the Disneyland venue look more like it was an Aulani Resort and Spa venue in Hawaii (and yes, there was a Hidden Mickey involved)!
A post-ceremony snack break at the recently-renovated Adventure Lawn nearby allowed the newly-married couple to share some more tropical fun, as well as a Pixar favorite: bao buns, just like in the emotional Pixar short Bao that served as Turning Red director Domee Shi’s big break!
Ahi tuna was served alongside the bao buns before the wedding party adjourned to the Sleeping Beauty Pavilion for a “bright and airy ballroom” wedding reception that the Disney Weddings team enhanced with fruity and floral decor.
According to the bride and groom, the real focus of their Disney Fairy Tale Wedding was to “have both of our families there together supporting us as we joined together in a partnership to start our own segment of the family.” Sounds like ‘ohana’ to us! Did you do anything to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Lio & Stitch?
