Disney Changes Policy: Restaurant Now Walk-In Only, No Reservations

Disneyland Park has made a significant change to the way visitors experience one of its most popular attractions. Effective today, Oga’s Cantina at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will no longer accept new reservations, instead transitioning to walk-up availability with a traditional standby queue. This adjustment means guests will no longer be able to secure a spot in advance, but those who already have reservations will still be honored.

The Main Change: New Reservations No Longer Accepted

Previously, Oga’s Cantina allowed guests to book ahead of time, making it one of the most coveted dining spots in Disneyland. The cantina, known for its unique Star Wars-themed cocktails, lively atmosphere, and music curated by DJ R-3X, had a reservation system in place that gave visitors a guaranteed spot. Now, Disney has decided to move to a walk-up system, which allows for more flexibility but also means potential wait times for those hoping to visit.

Guests will now need to plan for standby wait times, which will fluctuate based on park crowds. Disney has not publicly explained why this policy change was made, but the move to walk-up availability is likely intended to offer a more spontaneous way for guests to experience the cantina without the need for advanced reservations.

Although reservations will no longer be available for new guests, those who had previously booked spots can rest easy. Existing reservations will still be honored, ensuring that visitors who planned ahead will be able to enjoy their Oga’s Cantina experience as scheduled.

What’s Still the Same at Oga’s Cantina

Despite the operational shift, the cantina remains true to its immersive Star Wars theme. Guests can still enjoy drinks like the Fuzzy Tauntaun, Bespin Fizz, and Blue Bantha, along with the same lively atmosphere that has made it a fan favorite since opening. The change in the booking process does not affect the immersive experience itself, which remains an iconic part of the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge visit.

For those planning to visit, Disney advises arriving early and checking in with cast members, as wait times may vary. With the change to a walk-up system, guests are encouraged to explore other attractions while waiting for their chance to visit the cantina.

Why Disney Made the Shift

While the exact reason for the change remains unclear, this shift reflects Disneyland’s ongoing efforts to streamline guest experiences in response to evolving attendance patterns, particularly as the park continues to adapt to post-pandemic crowds. The move also aligns with Disney's broader focus on creating a more flexible and dynamic park experience for visitors.

As this transition takes effect, Disneyland fans will need to adjust their plans accordingly, embracing the spontaneity of the walk-up system while still enjoying the immersive and iconic Star Wars experience that Oga’s Cantina has to offer.
