Look out, Castaway Cay—Disney’s next private Bahamian paradise is cruising into Guests’ vacation itineraries.

Disney’s cruises are known for their enchanting entertainment, delectable dining, and soothing soirees around the islands. With a brand-new Aladdin-inspired ship docking at Cape Canaveral called the Disney Treasure, Guests can slip into the gilded luxury of a Disney Cruise while soaking in the enchanting influences of Asia and Africa.

Not only is the Disney Treasure a new cruise experience heading to the Caribbean, but it’s making a stop at a Bahamian retreat loaded with Disney magic. Starting Summer of 2024, Guests can be the first to experience Lighthouse Point: the island-inspired oasis designed for Disney enthusiasts.

Shelling Out Magical Memories

After years of chipping away at an island acquisition, Disney officially announced Lighthouse Point’s location on the island of Eleuthera. Cultivating cultural influences to celebrate the locals with Bahamian artistry, food, architecture, and activities, Lighthouse Point will be a love letter to Bahamian culture. In a statement by Disney Cruise Line, the emphasis on the integration with the local culture was shared:

Community and collaboration are also a shaping force. Across the island and around The Bahamas, we’ve partnered with artists, historians and cultural ambassadors to bring Lighthouse Point to life. Recreational and water areas have been infused with the colors, music and festive spirit of the Bahamian street parade, Junkanoo. Murals, sculptures and other designs created by Bahamian artists, including some from Eleuthera, are integrated into gathering spaces and cabanas.

With concept art depicting the vibrancy of the cultural elements comprising Lighthouse Point, @ScottGustin shared the logistical progress of its construction in a post on Twitter. In a series of images, the post captured an aerial progression of the private island’s construction over the last few months.

Here’s a look at progress on Lighthouse Point, Disney Cruise Line’s new island on the southern tip of the Island Eleuthera in The Bahamas set to open summer 2024.

Satellite images show progress in March, April, May and June. Most notable progress is the access pier.

According to Disney contractors, 50% of the pier was completed in late April, with plans moving steadily ahead over the last month. With the entry point underway and sneak peeks of the island’s visuals, Disney cruisers can start to see the Lighthouse Point vision come to life.

Pure, Unadulterated Fun

Featuring at least two water slides, water drums, water play areas inspired by The Little Mermaid, and family games, Lighthouse Point will stay true to Disney form and accommodate a family-friendly experience. But after spending days aboard a ship to the Caribbean, a little alone time never hurt anyone.

Lighthouse Point will offer a kids-only dining area and an adults-only venue with island bites. No details have been released about the onsite restaurants, but Disney Cruiseline stated:

When hunger strikes, make your way to the stylish dining area on the beach for refreshing sips and island-style bites.

If kiddos were never part of the party, Disney adults could unwind at the adults-only beach at Lighthouse Point. Reserved for Guests 18+ or older, the pristine beaches will provide cabanas for those vacationing sans kids (or getting a quick tan in while they dine at the kids-only venue). Lighthouse Point will also feature three adult-only bars with island theming and refreshments.
