After a few years of less successful movies, it seems Disney is coming back swinging. 2022 saw Disney making the year’s biggest flop; the Mouse House lost over $100 million with one of its films despite being backed by one of the biggest stars in the industry right now. This said, despite these hiccups, Disney still ended the year at #1. However, after an iffy 2022, Disney is showing signs of a strong comeback.

The year started off with Avatar: The Way of Water and the Marvel movie Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania turning into enormous successes at the box office. Avatar: The Way of Water by director James Cameron became the third highest-grossing film of all time; Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania brought in $249.7 million globally over its opening weekend. At the time, the Marvel release was the franchise’s best debut.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3

Now, there’s more success coming Disney’s way. The media giant’s latest release has done enormously well during its opening weekend; Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the third installment of the series. The film is written and directed by James Gunn and produced by Kevin Feige. Per IMDb, in the movie, “Still reeling from the loss of Gamora [Zoe Saldana], Peter Quill rallies his team to defend the universe and one of their own—a mission that could mean the end of the Guardians if not successful.”
