Disney has certainly made some astute decisions recently. The clean-up of the Walt Disney Company that was long overdue has begun, and with it, there have been a lot of apparent improvements in the world of Disney as well. Most recently, by the numbers, Disney seems to be on a winning streak. While last year the company lost over $120 billion, this year they’ve already posted $1 billion from both the North American box office and the global box office, a short six weeks into 2023. And a large part of that has been Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and its wildly successful opening weekend.

While the Marvel Cinematic Universe-based film itself did not receive favorable reviews from critics, fans have stood by it; Forbes even called it the “worst-reviewed movie.” Fans on Twitter shared, “Don’t believe the negative reviews. Entertaining, better than God of Thunder & Eternals but not as good as first Ant Man.”
Deanna Berry added about the Marvel film, “I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would. Very Star Wars meets Pandora vibe in the Quantum Realm.”

The movie has more than proven its popularity with its success. It might be yet another sign that current Disney CEO Bob Iger’s return is working in Disney’s favor, with so many fans willing to speak out for Disney and Marvel again. In addition to this Ant-Man movie, James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water has also contributed to Disney’s success at the domestic box office and international box office this year. And the fact remains, whether critics agree or not, Disney has 250 million reasons (so far) why Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was a good move for the Walt Disney Company on the whole.
