Disney Guests are some of the most committed fans, and one proved that when they stayed behind to go solo on a ride even as the threat of Hurricane Ian loomed.
The Walt Disney World Resort holds its own as one of the best places in the world to enjoy a Disney vacation. Whichever Theme Park you pick within the Disney Resort—Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Disney’s Animal Kingdom—every Disney Park has something unique to offer Guests with world-class attractions and rides.
And among these, one of the most legendary rides at the Walt Disney World Resort is Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. On the ride, Guests “race through a haunted gold mine” aboard a speeding train.
Guests love the attraction so much that one went ahead and rode the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad by themselves on the day we found out that the Walt Disney World Resort would shut down due to Hurricane Ian.
The video posted on Reddit by u/Harry_Skran made some waves in the Disney Park community.

The video has garnered over 1.3K upvotes since its upload, and many fans expressed their wonder at the visuals.
The Guest had an absolutely incredible view of the nightly fireworks at the Magic Kingdom and a completely empty train car. They were even lucky enough (or thoughtful enough) to sit in the back seat, the spot that many on the thread considered the best spot to sit at on this attraction.
Big Thunder Mountain is a fan favorite and is so beloved that it can now be found at Disneyland Resort, Magic Kingdom in the Walt Disney World Resort, Tokyo Disneyland, and Parc Disneyland in Paris.
After you arrive at the legendary Big Thunder Mining Company, descend into an abandoned mine shaft and board your train. As you enter the cursed cavern, the engine speeds up along the rickety track. Dodge exploding dynamite and falling boulders as you swoop around turns, drop into canyons and dart through the mysterious ghost town of Tumbleweed.
