Real-Life Tower of Terror Lawsuit
A man from Osceola County is suing Reedy Creek Improvement District, claiming he experienced something similar to a real-life Tower of Terror experience at the Disney Springs parking garage.
The lawsuit states that the individual, Michael Johnson, was visiting Walt Disney World Resort in June of 2022. Upon his visit, he went to Disney Springs with his daughter and used an elevator in the Orange Parking Garage.

The lawsuit alleges the elevator dropped “several feet suddenly and without warning, then stopping abruptly, forcefully shaking, and dropping again” before rising to the garage’s fifth floor.
Guest Seeks $50,000 in Damages
The court records were filed this past Thursday and accuse the former district of failing to maintain the elevator properly. As such, Mr. Johnson is seeking over $50,000 in damages.
He claims that the incident caused him to suffer multiple injuries. The lawsuit reads that Mr. Johnson “suffered bodily injury in and about his body and extremities, resulting in pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, permanent and significant scarring, mental anguish, loss of the capacity for the enjoyment of life, expense of hospitalization, medical and nursing care and treatment, loss of earnings, and loss of the ability to earn money in the future.”
The Reedy Creek Improvement District was dissolved in June of 2023. However, the date given by Mr. Johnson int he lawsuit precedes the termination of the district.
