Many businesses or charities have gotten involved for Giving Tuesday this year, which is the day of holiday sales that focuses more on charitable proceeds than Black Friday or Cyber Monday does. Today, a special Walt Disney World Resort license plate has been unveiled–and it’s also a 50th-anniversary plate, in honor of Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary this year, which makes it even more exclusive! The proceeds from the purchases of this plate will all go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Central and Northern Florida. Disney shared the news in the Tweet below.

On the Disney Parks Blog, Disney elaborated by saying that “Florida drivers can unwrap the magic and help make children’s wishes come true by purchasing the first-ever Walt Disney World specialty license plate benefitting Make-A-Wish of Central and Northern Florida. Featuring an “EARidescent” 50th anniversary celebration logo on a majestic blue background inspired by Cinderella Castle, one hundred percent of the proceeds of this license plate benefits Make-A-Wish programs making wishes come true for children with life-threatening medical conditions”.

Many Disney Guests already knew that “Disney has a longstanding relationship with Make-A-Wish, dating back to 1980”; according to the blog post, “more than 140,000 Disney-inspired wishes having been granted, with more than 8,000 taking place each year at Walt Disney World Resort”.

If you want to buy a gift card for someone to buy a license plate, “gift certificate vouchers can be purchased for $25 plus applicable state administration fees exclusively through Florida County Tax Collector’s Offices or license plate agencies (DMVs). Specialty plates can also be purchased or online through the Orange County Tax Collector’s Office“.

Disney has also started its Toys for Tots holiday toy drive and its 50 for 50 VoluntEARs event (in which Cast Members are each doing 50 hours of community service and attending 50 VoluntEARs events). In addition, Disney also matches Cast Members’ donations to charities year-round. Essentially, this means that Disney “matches those eligible donations dollar-for-dollar from $25 up to $25,000, per individual, per year.” Disney has also “helped light up Give Kids The World Village for its second annual Night of a Million Lights holiday event, helping make even more dreams come true for children with life-threatening illnesses wishing to visit Central Florida”. This charity was among the charities that Disney also donated three million dollars to earlier this year.
