We all know the Hatbox Ghost is coming to the Magic Kingdom, but now, we know more about this favored specter, which will soon appear in Disney World’s Haunted Mansion.
Going to the Magic Kingdom is one of the most cherished trips fans can take while indulging in a Disney vacation. From rides and attractions like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Space Mountain to amazing shows like Happily Ever After, there’s a lot for Disney fans to enjoy.

Hatbox Ghost is Coming to Magic Kingdom
Few ghouls and ghosts are as beloved and iconic as the infamous Hatbox Ghost in the Haunted Mansion (which is also home to some favorites like the Ghost Host and Madame Leota). The infamous specter is one of the 999 happy haunts of the Haunted Mansion and enjoys the legacy of being “the lost ghost;” he was first introduced to the Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion when it opened in 1969 before disappearing. He was then reintroduced to the attraction in Disneyland Park, Disneyland Resort, in 2015.
In The Story and Song from the Haunted Mansion, he’s described as “a cloaked figure with an evil, grinning face.” As we discovered during the D23 Expo in 2022, the evil grin will soon be spotted in the Magic Kingdom’s Haunted Mansion!

Disney Reveals Location of the Hatbox Ghost in the Magic Kingdom
For months now, we have had no news on the Hatbox Ghost and his impending arrival in the Magic Kingdom, but on the day of the Haunted Mansion movie’s official release, Disney finally gave us more details about this iconic character.
Disney Parks Blog shared,
The Hatbox Ghost will appear to guests as they pass the Endless Hallway, welcoming himself inside from the swinging wake in the cemetery and grinning at the Doom Buggies as they set off deeper into the mansion.
Disney also confirmed that Guests will soon see temporary barriers “materialize” as they prepare for the apparition to arrive.
The Haunted Mansion attraction in Liberty Square, Magic Kingdom Park, will certainly never be the same after the Hatbox Ghost makes his appearance.
The Haunted Mansion attraction is found at many a Disney Park across the world, including Tokyo Disneyland. Disneyland Paris also has a version of the attraction, though its called Phantom Manor and is designed to be darker than its counterparts.
