New Emotions Revealed For ‘Inside Out 2’!

In 2015, Disney and Pixar released their newest film called Inside Out. Inside Out told the story of the emotions that were inside Riley’s head. They are on a little bit of a rollercoaster as Riley tries to adjust when her family moves from the Midwest to San Francisco. Riley is a young girl going through some big changes, and her emotions are trying to help her through it.

The first film focused on five emotions — Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust. Joy was voiced by Amy Poehler, Sadness was Phyllis Smith, and Anger was voiced by Lewis Black. Mindy Kaling and Bill Hader voiced Disgust and Fear, respectively.

At the 2022 D23 Expo — which took place right across from Disneyland Resort — Disney announced that an Inside Out sequel was in the works. We don’t know too much about the storyline, but we do know that Riley will be going through her teenage years. For those who have been teenagers, then you know, your emotions are all over the place.

The sequel movie is set to premiere next summer, and now we know some of the new emotions that will be taking center stage! According to the X (formerly Twitter) account for CanWeGetSomeToast, Inside Out 2 will feature Anxiety, Embarrassment, Ennui, and Envy.

Anxiety, Embarrassment, Ennui, and Envy will be joining Joy, Anger, and Sadness as they try to coexist in the complicated mind of a teenager.

Bill Hader and Mindy Kaling who voiced Fear and Disgust respectively, will not return due to contractual issues.

While many people are familiar with Anxiety, Embarrassment, and Envy, Ennui is not one that pops up often in conversation. According to Merriam-Webster, Ennui is “a feeling of dissatisfaction and weariness.”

At this time, we do not know who will voice the new emotions.

As stated in the above tweet, Bill Hader and Mindy Kaling will not return as Fear and Disgust. Several reports state that the two actors will not be returning due to contractual disputes. The reports say that the main issue lies in the salary that both were offered to reprise their roles. It is alleged that Amy Poehler is being paid $5 million, while the rest of the original actors are only being offered $100,000.

In addition to Poehler, Smith, and Black, Diane Lane will also be returning as the voice of Riley’s mom. Riley was voiced by Kaitlyn Dias and her dad was voiced by Kyle MacLachlan. We do not know if those actors will be back for Inside Out 2.

Inside Out 2 is being written by Meg LeFauve and directed by Kelsey Mann. LeFauve is best known for being one of the writers on Inside Out, The Good Dinosaur, and Captain Marvel.

Kelsey Mann is also a well-known member of the Disney family. He has worked on both animation and writing for Onward, Lightyear, The Good Dinosaur, and Monsters University.

Inside Out 2 is set to premiere in theaters nationwide on June 14, 2024. It will be Disney and Pixar’s first big release of the year.
