Disney World Installs Extra Safety Measures After Figment Faces Trouble

The new Figment meet ‘n’ greet at EPCOT has already seen its fair share of trouble, enough that Disney has installed extra safety measures.

One of the best parts of a Disney vacation is the opportunity we have as fans to meet some of our favorite characters. From meeting the OG, Mickey Mouse, and his friends to seeing our favorite Disney princes and princesses as well as Disney villains, a Disney Park visit at either the Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort is a dream come true for many!

However, things at “The Most Magical Place on Earth” can sometimes be less magical when something untoward happens. Occasionally, those can be genuinely shocking instances like a guest wreaking havoc and having altercations with cast members and fellow theme park visitors; other times, it can be something slightly lower stakes.

Figment Takes a Fall

Recently, beloved character Figment—who just began his meet ‘n’ greet at EPCOT—was coming out to greet fans when he took a tumble and fell down while walking out to meet fans. Cast members immediately rushed to his aid, and the fall itself didn’t seem to hurt our favorite purple dragon too much.

This isn’t all, though. It appears Figment fell multiple times while walking through the Dreamport Tunnel.

This said, it’s certainly not an event that needs repeating. To help fix the situation, @DisneyDan shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Disney updated Figment’s Dreamport Tunnel with new reflective baseboard runners. This will help ensure the meet ‘n’ greet space utilized for Figment is safe for performers to navigate.

It’s good to see the Walt Disney Company and Walt Disney World taking the right steps to ensure its cast members have a safe working environment where they’re not in danger of hurting themselves!

Fans Wait Hours to Meet Figment

Particularly noteworthy is that Figment had a few issues this week, and hopefully, Disney fixing the baseboard runners is indicative of them working on all the issues at hand.

On opening day, fans waited five hours to meet Figment, and while many have said the wait was well worth it, many fans were also furious at needing to wait as long as they did.
