Fans of the animated Disney movie Lilo & Stitch, from 2002, have been keeping an eagle-eyed watch on any incoming news about the live-action adaptation of the film that is on its way (especially since, so far, any casting news about the Disney movie has been extremely disconcerting).
The new live-action remake of the Disney movie is set in the beautiful tropical landscape of Hawaii and focuses on two sisters, Lilo and Nani, as well as their heartwarming adventures with a blue Elvis Presley fan named Stitch. This is, of course, the same plot as the original 2002 animated movie.
We already knew that The Hangover actor Zach Galifianakis would be in the film (supposedly in the role of the endearingly-awkward alien Pleakley), but now we know who will be playing an even bigger role!
The actress who has been cast in the role of Nani, Lilo’s older sister and guardian, has just been announced!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sydney Elizebeth Agudong will be playing Nani. She will be accompanied by Maia Kealoha, the previously unheard-of actress who will be playing Lilo in the movie (which is directed by Dean Fleischer Camp).
Agudong is a Hawaiian actress who is known for her work on shows like NCIS and movies like West Michigan (2021), but her younger sister Siena actually already has a sizable Disney Channel and Nickelodeon background in the form of the Nickelodeon show called Star Falls and the Disney Channel Original Movie called Upside-Down Magic (2020)!
We still don’t know much about the new live-action Lilo & Stitch (although, if public opinion is any indication, Disney fans really do seem to be sick and tired of Disney’s live-action remakes), but Disney Fanatic will continue to keep a very close eye on news relating to this live-action version of the Disney story.
