Noticeable changes are finally underway at the Walt Disney World Resort as the decorations for the 50th Anniversary Celebration come down.
While nods to “The Most Magical Celebration” could be found in all four Theme Parks, the crown jewel was Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom Park. The white and blue centerpiece was painted pink in solidarity with Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland Resort, dropped with golden ribbons, and the clock was covered by a large circular plaque with the number 50.
According to Theme Park insider Scott Gustin, new pictures from Magic Kingdom show the golden ribbons and center plaque have been removed.

While the extra decorations are going away, it is still unknown if the original color scheme will return or if the pink and blue castle will remain in place as the Walt Disney World Resort continues into its second half-century. However, the changes to Disney World’s website and social media seem to suggest a paint job is in Disney’s future.
Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebrations promised a lot of aesthetic changes that failed to meet expectations. Promised street signage is still not completed, and the barges built for EPCOT’s new fireworks show, Harmonious, were supposed to provide fountain shows during the day on World Showcase Lagoon.
Cinderella Castle’s transformation was one of the few promised elements that actually came to fruition, but even that left fans divided, with some praising the change and others hating it.

Only time will tell how many hearts the Disney landmark’s permanent look will win once the transformation is over.
