Walt Disney World Resort guests endured a harrowing ride aboard the Monorail this week as a powerful storm swept through Central Florida.
On Tuesday, June 10, the Walt Disney World Monorail continued operations through heavy rainfall, even as multiple guests reported leaks and near-zero visibility while traveling along the Magic Kingdom loop. The Monorail, which typically provides reliable service between EPCOT, Magic Kingdom Park, and several Disney Resort hotels, appeared ill-prepared for the severe weather.
The EPCOT line reportedly shut down for a period earlier in the day, forcing guests to seek alternate transportation. Though the line eventually reopened, the storm that followed presented its own problems.
The Florida storm intensified in the afternoon, bringing heavy downpours to the Walt Disney World Resort. According to multiple guest reports and videos posted online, conditions on the Monorail quickly worsened.
“It’s raining so hard at Walt Disney World right now that you CANNOT see Contemporary Resort from the Magic Kingdom Monorail station!!” wrote X user @DrewDisneyDude, sharing a video of the scene. In the footage, visibility is so poor that nearby landmarks are completely obscured.

Inside the Monorail itself, guests documented additional issues. @akademanda responded with footage that appeared to show water leaking into the cabin during the ride. “So hard that the monorail windows are leaking,” they wrote in response to the original post.

Neither Walt Disney World Resort nor the Monorail’s operators provided public comment on whether the leak was addressed or if any cars were removed from service. Despite the alarming conditions, the Monorail system continued operating throughout the storm.
The Monorail system at Walt Disney World Resort has been in service since the park opened in 1971 and has expanded to include the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, EPCOT, and an express line between Magic Kingdom and the Transportation & Ticket Center.
