Disney on Ice Dress Code Goes Viral for All the Wrong Reasons

Disney on Ice is making headlines for all the wrong reasons after a viral video slammed its dress code for adult guests.

The controversy began on June 27, when TikTok user Phoebe Parsons highlighted a policy in the Disney on Ice FAQ prohibiting ticketholders over 14 from wearing costumes to the performance. This rule, which mirrors the dress code policies at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort, quickly caught the attention of fans, many of whom felt the policy was unfair and stifled the magic for adult Disney enthusiasts.

“What is this rule?” Parsons asked in the video. “Are you telling me that a 35-year-old Disney enthusiast who is accompanying a four-year-old child to Disney on Ice is not allowed to dress up? Have you seen what’s going on in the world at the moment? Do you know how little we have to be excited about and look forward to, and you’re telling me that I cannot come dressed as a f**king princess?”

While many social media users sympathized with Parsons, some pointed out that the dress code exists to protect the magic for children and ensure safety.

“Theyre trying to stop little kids running up to random adults,” said @in4doggos. “It’s a safety thing.”

In an interview with Kidspot, Parsons acknowledged the need for certain limitations, but she still felt that the policy was overly restrictive: “Honestly, it just felt like a bit of the magic got gatekept.”

“Do I think adults should be able to dress up with their kids? Within reason, yes,” she continued. “If a mum or a big sister wants to wear a matching Elsa cape, why not? It’s harmless fun. The world’s heavy enough, let people do things that fill them with joy. Even if it’s wearing a tiara at 35.”

Some social media users pointed out alternatives like Disney Bounding, a trend where theme park guests dress in clothing inspired by Disney characters without wearing full costumes.

“You can still dress up in theme such as wearing colours to resemble Ariel but not actually dress up as her,” said @hamiltontheaussieversion.

“You can dress up a little,” @kennedyharlow added. “You just can’t put on a full-length Elsa gown and sign autographs in the parking lot.”

However, some users were less understanding, slamming Parsons for wanting to dress up for Disney on Ice.

“It’s not all about you get a grip be a adult and let ya kids enjoy it,” said @zanew666.

“There’s literally no reason for you to dress up babes just your 4-year-old dressing up as a princess is just fine,” @sienna383838 wrote.

While costumes are prohibited for Disney on Ice guests over 14, there are still plenty of ways for adults to participate in the fun. Mickey ears, tiaras, and Disney-themed clothing are all welcome! But if your outfit might cause confusion and be mistaken for a character, it’s time to rethink your attire.

  1. I believe this person is complaining about not being able to dressing up but she has no problem cursing with the “F” word. Also if she dresses it takes away from the child.
