In 2009, Disney created another beautifully animated film that brought viewers into the heart of New Orleans. The Princess and the Frog told the story of Tiana, a strong-willed young woman who dreamed of one day opening her own restaurant. That dream was thrown into chaos when she kissed a frog who claimed to be a prince, and she was turned into a frog herself. In the end, Tiana fell in love and realized that life is so much more than work, laughter and love can still help you reach your dreams.

The Princess and the Frog was full of beautiful colors, incredible music, and classic Disney animation. The movie has remained so popular that, in 2020, Disney announced that it was creating a brand-new series for Disney+. The series will be called Tiana and will focus on her new role as the Princess of Maldonia. She sets off on her new life, but her New Orleans roots are never far behind, calling to her.

In the two years since Disney announced Tiana, we have learned almost nothing more about the show. Disney originally said that the show would be released in 2023. Unfortunately, in March 2023, the release year was removed from all Disney sites. That left many wondering if Disney had decided to abandon the show altogether.

However, we now have some exciting news! Disney has announced that the show is still on! Better yet, we know that it is coming in 2024. The trifecta? We also have some more details about what we can expect!

More Princess and the Frog in Disney Parks

The new Tiana series will not be the only way Disney will continue the story of Tiana and Prince Naveen. In 2020, Disney shocked fans when it announced that Splash Mountain would be closing at both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. The iconic flume ride will be transformed into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

The massive retheme has really divided fans, but Disney is moving along on the transformation. Splash Mountain was based on the 1946 film, Song of the South. In recent years, critics have taken a harsher look at the film and its problematic content. Despite fans’ love for the ride, Disney wants to create something more inclusive and representative of the world today.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is scheduled to open at both the Magic Kingdom and Disneyland Park in late 2024.
