Peter Pan has been flying through Disney’s theme parks for decades, but the 1953 animated classic has sparked growing controversy in recent years. For this reason, guests were alarmed when the IP disappeared from one parade recently – and why they'll be happy to know that it's back.
‘Peter Pan’ Faces Scrutiny at Disney Parks
Like many of Disney’s older animated films, Peter Pan has been reexamined through a modern lens, particularly for its outdated depictions of Native Americans, sparking content warnings on Disney+.

At Magic Kingdom, Disney has already made adjustments to Peter Pan’s Flight, one of the most popular attractions at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
The Magic Kingdom version has swapped out a scene featuring the Never Land Tribe. Previously, the attraction depicted Tiger Lily and her tribe gathered around a campfire, with the chief crossing his arms and others playing drums. Now, the update shows Tiger Lily dancing in a circle with an elder tribe member.
Disneyland's version of the ride is also set to receive the updates at some point.

The update is part of Disney’s broader effort to modernize its classic attractions while keeping them true to their original spirit. Similar adjustments have been made to Jungle Cruise and Splash Mountain (which has been transformed into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at both Disneyland and Disney World). But Peter Pan’s changes haven’t been limited to just ride updates—his presence in the parks has also been unexpectedly tweaked elsewhere.
Disneyland Paris Quietly Removed Peter Pan—Then Brought Him Back
Months after the Peter Pan’s Flight update at Magic Kingdom, Disneyland Paris fans noticed something strange: Peter Pan was suddenly missing from the park’s daily parade.
Disney Stars on Parade originally featured a Peter Pan-themed section called “Discover Imagination,” complete with themed floats and music from the film. But without warning, the segment was abruptly removed. Reports at the time also claimed that its signature soundtrack had been taken out of the parade’s score.

Fans immediately speculated that the removal was tied to Disney’s ongoing reassessments of Peter Pan’s place in the parks. Would it ever return? Was this another quiet retirement of a legacy property?
But then a week later, Peter Pan reappeared—although only partially. The Skull Rock float, featuring Captain Hook, was back in action. However, the moon-shaped float where Peter himself usually stood was still missing. Instead, Peter Pan walked the parade route with Wendy Darling by his side.
Peter Pan Is Back—For Real This Time
It took nearly two months, but Peter Pan’s parade unit has finally been restored in full. According to DLP Report, the entire Peter Pan float is back, complete with the miniature Jolly Roger, where the mischievous hero swings into action.

While the return of the parade float is a win for Peter Pan fans, it’s not the only issue Disney Stars on Parade has faced recently. The Frozen (2013) section of the parade was temporarily removed due to technical difficulties earlier this year, and the Finding Nemo (2003) float—featuring a giant, animatronic Crush—has struggled with operational issues on and off.
Disney hasn’t made any official statements about why Peter Pan was briefly removed from Disney Stars on Parade, but with the full unit now restored, it seems the boy who wouldn’t grow up isn’t going anywhere—at least, for now.
What do you think about Disney’s handling of Peter Pan in the parks?
