Disney Removes Children From Attraction, Makes Frantic Mother Stay On Ride Without Explanation

It’s every parent’s worst nightmare. Recently, a distraught mother took to social media to recount a troubling experience that occurred during a recent trip to a popular Disney park. Obviously unable to hide her frustration, she detailed how her children were abruptly forced out of their ride cart once they boarded as a family, leaving her confused and distressed. Despite her desperate pleas for answers, the cast members offered no explanation, forced her to remain seated, and sent her off on the ride without her kids. What should have been a fun affair left the mother in panic mode for the duration of the ride.

A Scary Space Mountain Story

Space Mountain is one of the most recognizable attractions at Disneyland Resort in California. This gravity-defying roller coaster catapults riders into the vastness of outer space, where they soar through the cosmos at high speeds. While the ride is known for its trippy experience, most families don’t expect it to feature a portion where children are separated from their parents!

However, this is exactly what happened to TikTok user Nicole Gillette. The mother took to the platform to alert parents about her frustrating experience visiting Disneyland recently. She explained that the cast members didn’t seem to have that “wow factor” they usually do on that particular day, and her concerns eventually became a nightmare.

Gillette stressed that her 7-year-old daughter did not like rides much but was beginning to enjoy them as the trip progressed. Once they got on Space Mountain, however, things took a drastic turn. Her daughter and son decided to take the front row while she and her husband were in the back of the car. Gillette then explained how her kids were taken from her:

So we get loaded in. We pull the bars down and we’re strapped into the ride, right? And they move us forward and all of the sudden this ladder gets brought over to the ride and they pop open the bars just in the front row and they start taking the kids out and we’re like “what’s going on? What’s happening?” And they tell us “it’s fine, we’ll explain in a minute!”

The cast members reportedly disregarded her pleas to remain with her children, instead sending the two parents off on the ride without them. Gillette explained that her daughter was shaken up, and the entire ride experience was ruined for her because she was stressed and just wanted to get back to her kids.

Why Did Disney Remove Her Children?

Upon returning, her children were nowhere to be found, and the cast members continued to ignore their pleas, telling the parents to stand behind the yellow line and wait. The poor mother finally got an explanation when a cast member came to clarify.

The kids were removed and placed in a different car because the one they boarded was over the weight limit. Gillette wondered why Disney took children off the ride and not adults first and stressed that they should have listened to her pleas to remain with her children.

The cast member then told her that they only had 20 seconds between cars to keep the ride moving or it would shut down, which is why there was a ton of miscommunication. The family was then put together on another ride, but Gillette has now taken her story to TikTok, hoping no other family will have to endure this ordeal. She pointed out the many issues that it could create:

What if there was a medical reason why your kid couldn’t be separated from you, anything! There are so many things that could go wrong with that, like separating a minor away from their parents.

Thankfully, this mother reunited with her children, but not without experiencing intense frustration and having a terrified daughter. Gillette hopes Disney has better communication going forward and the right person sees her video to do better in the future.
