Recently, a video of Disney’s scariest ride resurfaced in the Disney community, and fans have had a range of reactions to it.

The Walt Disney Company has put in immense effort to craft its reputation of being a family-friendly entertainment property. Whether with the Disney movies or with the Disney Resorts, Disney has worked quite hard to maintain that environment, be that through their policies or their wonderful rides and attractions at any Disney Theme Park.

But this hasn’t always been the case for Disney. There is one ride hidden in the past of the Disney Parks, which reportedly terrified many Guests, so much so that many reportedly left the ride in tears. However, this same ride was also beloved by many fans who truly loved it.

This infamous ride is none other than ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter. This ride, as many fans know, was around for a short eight years at Walt Disney World Resort in Magic Kingdom Park. After opening in 1995, it shut shop in 2003 and was replaced by a Stitch retheme. It was truly the scariest Disney ride Walt Disney Imagineering could have come up with.

TikTok user @thinkingcappauthor recently shared a throwback video to this ride, check it out:

The ride, shut down because many called it “too violent,” “too scary,” and “too confusing,” was certainly one that made waves. However, this video posted a short six hours prior to the writing of this article has already gotten 15.7K likes on the social media platform and has received over 150,000 views.

Some fans hadn’t heard of the ride, and one Kobe Wild shared, “Wow this is the first I’ve heard of this ride I would’ve liked taking it.”

Many fans unabashedly expressed their appreciation for the terrifying ride. NOMADIK commended, “I LOVED THIS RIDE.”

However, many shared the flipside as well. One user shared how they desperately wanted to go on Alien Encounter at seven years old, but her mother wanted to see how scary the ride was and rode it for herself. The mother exited the ride in tears, and the fan was never allowed near it after that.

While it doesn’t appear like Disney has any plans in the near future to bring this ride back anytime soon, it appears there are many fans who would welcome the ride back with eager arms if so.
