TRON’s opening day is fast approaching; in under a month, Disney Fanatics will be able to enjoy the highly anticipated ride, immersing themselves in the Grid. As all Disney fans would know, in this attraction, Guests can “Speed across a world with no horizons in a high-stakes race” and “Surge past your fierce opponents as you attempt to cross through 8 Energy Gates and secure your team’s victory—so you can survive to race another day.” But in order to do all of these things on TRON: Lightcycle/Run, Disney has now made it known that fans can utilize a virtual queue.
Journalist Scott Gustin took to Twitter to share how Guests will have to join this virtual queue to ride TRON: Lightcycle/Run. There will be two daily opportunities to join the virtual queue—one at 7 a.m. and one at 1 p.m.
7 a.m.: Guests don’t have to be in the Park but must have a Magic Kingdom Theme Park reservation for that day.
1 p.m.: Guests need to be in Magic Kingdom Park to join the virtual queue.
Disney has confirmed details on the TRON virtual queue process:
7am: Not required to be in park, must have Magic Kingdom park reservation
1pm: Must be in Magic Kingdom to join VQ
6pm: On select dates with extended evening theme park hours

There will occasionally also be a third option offered; on select dates with extended evening Theme Park hours, Guests will have the chance to join the virtual queue again at 6 p.m. It’s important to note this is a benefit afforded only to Disney Resort hotel Guests, particularly those staying either at a Disney Deluxe Resort, a Disney Deluxe Villa Resort, or other select hotels. Disney also notes that Guests with this benefit do not need to be in the Park to request to join at this time.
In order to join TRON: Lightcycle/Run‘s virtual queue for the extended evening hours slot, Disney specified that Guests would need to have a Theme Park reservation for that day or have a ticket or an Annual Pass with the Park Hopper option. If they have a ticket or Annual Pass with the Park Hopper, those Guests will need to first enter the Park for which they made their reservation. A Guest will need to use the My Disney Experience app to enter the attraction. Guests can also choose to purchase an Individual Lightning Lane for this attraction.
More on TRON Lightcycle/Run
This sci-fi-inspired Disney Park ride was first brought to Shanghai Disney Resort in 2016. After a wildly successful Shanghai Disneyland debut, Disney announced at the D23 Expo in 2017 that the ride would be coming to the Walt Disney World Resort Disney Park Magic Kingdom (also home to Space Mountain, the Tomorrowland Speedway, and more). Walt Disney World Resort’s TRON ride will be opening on April 4 of this year. The ride was recently embroiled in controversy due to the TRON ride vehicle not being inclusive of different sizes.
