After spending seven years building the new attraction between Space Mountain, Tomorrowland Speedway, and the Walt Disney World Railroad, Disney finally announced that the new roller coaster would open to the public via virtual queue and individual lightning lane purchase on April 4, and almost immediately after, announced the window for the Cast Member preview. Meanwhile, Annual Passholders sat waiting in silence, without even a simple guarantee that they would get the same exclusive opportunity they did for other rides before they opened, like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT.

But on Monday, February 13, the Walt Disney World Resort finally let Annual Passholders know that their time was coming and when they would get to register!

The email read:

As an Annual Passholder, you’re invited to be among the first to experience the high-tech, high-speed thrills of TRON Lightcycle / Run presented by Enterprise.

Climb aboard your own lightcycle and enter the Grid, a digital world with no horizons. Push past the limits of what you’ve ever experienced at Magic Kingdom® Park in the fastest ride in Disney Parks history.

Be on the lookout for an email when registration opens on February 16.

Currently, Disney World Cast Member previews are underway. However, concerns immediately arose about the motorcycle-like seat’s ability to fit Guests of all sizes. And reports of controversy and a “line of shame” for the few seats for larger passengers growing extensive spread like wildfire. It is unclear at this time how these reports will affect Annual Passholders attendance for their exclusive time slot.

On the other hand, demand for preview registration is also expected to be extremely high. We recently reported that Disney World’s version of TRON: Lightcycle Power Run at Shanghai Disneyland would, in fact, be opening at Magic Kingdom Park during an extensive blockout period for everyone who has the Disney Pirate Pass and the Disney Pixie Dust Pass, most likely due to the timing of Spring Break vacations this year.

It is still unclear at this time if or when any other preview events for other groups, such as Disney Vacation Club members or D23 members, will be announced.
