“Dr. Mark” Is At It Again

The Disney employee and Instagram influencer (of sorts) named Dr. Mark Penning, who works as the Vice President of Disney’s Animals, Science & Environment department, has just shared some wonderful news about changes that Animal Kingdom Guests can expect on the renowned Kilimanjaro Safaris expeditions through the Florida version of the African savannah.

“Double the stripes, double the fun!” Dr. Mark Penning (aka “Dr. Mark”) wrote in the Instagram post shown below. “Two playful Hartmann’s mountain zebra foals, Cricket and Dot, were born to moms Juno and Aziza and have been curiously exploring their new surroundings.”

Make a Wish

“Each zebra is born with unique stripe patterns, and no two are the same—just like human fingerprints!,” Dr. Mark added in the Instagram post. “Dot has a triangle shape on the front of both of her shoulders that resembles an upside-down checkmark, while Cricket has a forked stripe, resembling a wishbone.”

Have You Spotted This Dynamic Duo Yet?

The mothers of these two Hartmann’s mountain zebra foals are not on ‘display’ as part of the animal community in Kilimanjaro Safaris, but the foals and their father Domino are — so keep an eye out for some very young zebras with a “checkmark” and a “wishbone” marking when you’re enjoying Kilimanjaro Safaris at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park!
