Disney Can’t Figure Out Ticket Issue, Postpones Event Sale

Well, it was a frustrating day to be a Disneyland fan. This morning, at 9 a.m. Pacific Time, tickets to the Disneyland Halloween party event, Oogie Boogie Bash went on sale to the public. However, less than 10 minutes later, the site was updated to let Guests know that sales had been paused due to technical difficulties. Disney said it was working on the problem.

Seven hours later, the queue was still paused and the last update from Disney was at 11:30 that morning. Then, just after 4:15 p.m., the site was once again updated to let Guests know that the queue was officially closed and ticket sales were postponed.

The message to Guests read:

We apologize for the technical issues which have impacted general ticket sales for Oogie Boogie Bash. New sales are paused while we work to address these issues.

Guests can visit disneyland.com/oogieboogiebash on Thursday, July 6 at 9 a.m. PT for an update, which may include the date and time when new sales resume. We commit to providing advance notice prior to activating new sales and strive to make the process as smooth as possible. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Completed ticket purchases will be honored.

The news didn’t sit well with those who had been waiting for hours, just to be told they couldn’t purchase the coveted tickets. The news say even worse with Magic Key Holders who were unable to get tickets during the presale.

Many Magic Key Holders waited more than five hours in the queue on June 27, only to find out that all tickets were gone by the time they got in.

Oogie Boogie Bash first came to Disneyland Resort in 2019, replacing Mickey’s Halloween Party. It was an immediate hit and has since only grown in popularity. Each year, new villains are introduced, new treat trails are added, and the evening gets a little more spooktacular. Last year, Guests were able to interact with Ernesto De La Cruz from Coco and Bruno from the hit film Encanto!

This is not the first time that the Disney website has crashed during ticket sales. The site crashed when Magic Keys went on sale after being pause for months. The Walt Disney World site also crashed when Annual Pass sales resumed. So, this is a problem that Disney is well aware of, but not one that they work to fix so there aren’t future issues.
