Forget a Fifth Park, Disney Reveals New World of Imagination for Orlando

This year, Walt Disney World Resort is inviting guests to be part of something truly special: the World of Imagination.

Set against the backdrop of major developments in Central Florida’s theme park scene, The Walt Disney Company is embracing a guest-first philosophy heading into a summer of big changes. On May 22, 2025, Universal Orlando Resort will officially open Epic Universe—marking its third theme park and joining Universal Studios Florida, Universal’s Islands of Adventure, and the water park Volcano Bay.

Though some have labeled this new Universal park a “Disney killer,” Disney’s approach remains focused on evolving its own storytelling magic. Rather than racing to open a fifth park, Disney continues to invest in expanding and reimagining its four existing gates, with new experiences that promise to entertain.

At Magic Kingdom, an all-new Pixar Cars-themed area will bring high-octane fun to Frontierland alongside a much-anticipated land dedicated to Disney Villains. Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the transformation of the former DinoLand U.S.A. into the lush, vibrant Tropical Americas is moving ahead.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is preparing to welcome beloved characters from the world of Monsters, Inc., who will take over the Grand Avenue section of the park. Meanwhile, the Muppets are stepping into the spotlight in a big way—becoming the new stars of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. And while EPCOT has already seen major changes with the debut of World Celebration, guests can look forward to the reimagining of Test Track, which is scheduled to reopen in 2025.

Industry insiders suggest that Disney may reveal plans for a fifth gate within the next 12 to 16 months, though nothing has been officially announced. Still, with a lineup of enhancements across the existing parks, Disney appears confident in the magic it’s already building.

As summer approaches, the resort is finding new ways to connect with guests. A recent announcement confirms that—for the first time in six years—all six Disney parks in Orlando will be open the day before Epic Universe’s launch. Paired with new offers and experiences, it’s a strong reminder of the magic waiting across Walt Disney World’s four theme parks and two water parks.

International guests are being welcomed into a new initiative that celebrates their favorite Disney moments. The “World of Imagination” campaign invites fans to submit photos, videos, memories, and tips from their Walt Disney World vacations to be featured on an upcoming website dedicated to guest stories.

The email introduction reads, “Be part of our World of Imagination: Magical Memories & Top Tips From Our Guests.”

“We’re creating a new website to showcase the unique and unforgettable experiences that make a Walt Disney World holiday truly magical,” it continues. “We’d love you to submit your best tips, memories, photos, and videos for a chance to be featured on the new World of Inspiration website and beyond!”

Participation is easy. According to the email, guests are encouraged to:

– “Think of a short hint, tip, or memory to share.”
– “Choose the photo or video that best illustrates it.”
– “Click the button below and start uploading.”

The message concludes with an enthusiastic invitation: “So, whether it’s the warm Disney greeting, the dish you still crave, favourite spots to chill or enjoy family fun, Character meets or your no.1 tip, we can’t wait to hear!”

In a time when theme park planning can feel more complex, and costs have come under scrutiny, this guest-driven initiative is a fresh way for Disney to spotlight the stories that matter most—the ones lived by families, friends, and fans.

Thomas Hitchen

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his favorite TV show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer except when it's One Tree Hill. He loves sandy beach walks, forest hikes, and foodie days out in the Big City. Thomas lives in England, UK, with his fiancée, baby, and their dog, a Border Collie called Luna.
