Walt Disney World has shared further updates on the affordable housing development project announced earlier this year.

In April of this year, we reported that Disney had announced it would be embarking on a real estate project meant to uplift the surrounding communities. The Walt Disney Company earmarked 80 acres of Walt Disney World land for a new affordable housing development within Central Florida. The initiative had been “in the works for a while” when they announced it.

Jeff Vahle, the President of the Walt Disney World Resort added, “For more than 50 years, Walt Disney World has cared for and invested in our community, and we’re committed to being a part of this solution which will bring more attainable housing to Central Florida. We will continue to find ways to use our resources to make a difference in the community we call home, and we’re excited to take this step with a nationally recognized developer.”
