Disney World Weather Update: Hot and Rainy Memorial Day Weekend!

It appears that Memorial Day 2022 at The Walt Disney World Resort is going to give Guests a hot and rainy long weekend in Central Florida.

According to the folks at WESH2, the Orlando area is expecting temperatures in the 90s with rainstorms throughout the day. Reporter Kellianne Klass clarifies that the NBC affiliate’s meteorology team is not expecting a “washout,” but the light showers will add extra humidity to the otherwise hot few days.

The Weather Channel concurs with these predictions–although anticipates slightly lower temperatures–, with humidity predicted to hover above 60% Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Scattered thunderstorms are expected Saturday morning, and Sunday afternoon with calm winds out of the south.

Monday, Memorial Day, is also expected to be hot and humid, with a 50% chance of rain in the afternoon.

Along with the rain, partly cloudy skies are also expected, but would-be Guests should not take this to mean they do not have to apply sun screen or perform other means to protect their skin. The Weather Channel is predicting extremely high UV index levels for all three days and Guests should take precautions, especially for those Guests looking to explore World Showcase at EPCOT or wait in long, outside queues for rides like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

We at Disney Fanatic are also predicting crowds meeting the limited capacity still reportedly held in place by Disney World as EPCOT remains the only Disney Park for which Theme Park Reservations are available all three days for Theme Park Ticket Holders and Select Resort Hotel Guests. The only other Park with any availability is the Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park on Saturday, May 28.

This Memorial Day Weekend is expected to be one for the book as Disney World finally opens its latest indoor roller coaster, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, to the public. All Theme Park Reservations are taken for that opening day, Friday, May 27.
