Disney Asked To Stop Serving Alcohol After Latest Security Threat

The conversation around alcohol at Disney Parks has resurfaced after a recent security threat at Disney California Adventure Park. Fans have now begun calling for a ban on alcohol service at Disneyland Resort following the incident.

It wasn’t always this way. When Walt Disney opened Disneyland Park in 1955, alcohol was notably absent. The company’s founder aimed to create a place where both children and adults could enjoy the magic together, and he didn’t see the need to serve alcohol in the park at that time.

However, over the decades, cultural norms have shifted. Now, practically every Disney park and Disney Resort hotel worldwide serves alcoholic beverages to guests of legal drinking age, with iconic experiences like “drinking around the world” at EPCOT leading the charge. But despite its popularity, alcohol consumption at Disney parks remains a controversial topic. Some fans believe it’s perfectly fine for guests to enjoy a drink, while others argue it disrupts the family-friendly atmosphere that Disney is known for.

This debate has only intensified in the wake of videos showing intoxicated guests behaving inappropriately at the parks. On July 2, TikTok user @just.another.day21 shared a video showing Disneyland Resort security confronting a “drunk” man at Disney California Adventure Park. In the video, security is seen attempting to handle the situation and address the man’s behavior in front of a crowd of park guests.

“Don’t get drunk at Disney,” the TikTok user warned viewers.

@dirty6261, who claimed to have witnessed the incident in person, wrote, “The guy is a cast member and they were trying to help him keep his job. I know cuz I was there.”

However, Disney Fanatic could not confirm this allegation.

As expected, the video prompted a heated debate in the comments section. Some fans called on Disneyland Resort to take stricter measures on alcohol consumption, suggesting that the park needs to do a better job of restricting alcohol service to maintain a safe, family-friendly environment.

“Counterpoint: Don’t over serve at Disney,” said @geniusbill.

Other commenters argued that alcohol should not even be served in parks designed for children.

“There shouldn’t even be alcohol in a kid friendly park if people can’t control themselves,” @baby_les20 wrote.

“Or better yet…Disney stop serving alcohol,” @thekaiser2023 agreed. “…People can not be responsible. Clearly this video shows that.”

Conversely, some fans felt the issue shouldn’t be generalized to all Disney Park visitors.

“I’ve been plastered but never belligerent or disrespectful!” said @moses_1000.

“You can drink; just don’t act a fool,” @candicemarlaina replied. “I drink there all the time!”

At this point, it’s unclear whether the guest involved in the confrontation was removed from Disney California Adventure Park or what exactly led to the encounter with Disneyland Resort security.

  1. I’d be a lot happier if alcohol was only served at table service restaurants, and limited to one per person. It makes me sad to see so many people wandering around with plastic cups. This isn’t the Renaissance Festival (another venue I do love); it’s a family theme park.
