Disneyland Ends Annual Pass Program, Revoking Discount for Guests

As of February 24, 2025, Disneyland Resort has officially halted sales of the middle tier of the Magic Key Pass, the Believe Key. The Magic Key Pass, which debuted as a replacement for the Annual Pass program in 2021, offers four tiers with varying levels of benefits. Most notably, the program provides discounted admission for regular visitors to Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park.

What Happened to the Dream Key?

The initial Magic Key program had four tiers: the Dream Key, Believe Key, Enchant Key, and Imagine Key. However, the Dream Key, which was the highest tier, was replaced after Dream Key holders filed a Class Action lawsuit against Disneyland Resort. The lawsuit stemmed from complaints about misleading information regarding block-out dates.

The lawsuit alleged that the Dream Key was advertised as having no block-out dates, but Disneyland Resort had still reserved separate pools of Disney Park Pass reservations for Magic Key Pass holders and regular ticket holders. This reservation system sometimes made it difficult for Dream Key holders to secure spots at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park despite availability for single and multi-day ticket holders.

The Walt Disney Company denied wrongdoing but settled the Dream Key lawsuit in 2023. In 2024, Disneyland Resort paid $9.5 million to eligible former Dream Key Pass holders. The highest Magic Key Pass tier is now the Inspire Key, which comes with block-out dates.

Disneyland Magic Key Replaces Annual Passes

Since the Magic Key Pass was introduced as the new Annual Pass alternative, it has undergone several rounds of sales with limited availability. While Magic Key Passes initially sold out almost immediately after being released, the most recent sales have lasted weeks, with guests slowly snapping up the remaining passes.

On Monday, February 24, 2025, Disneyland Resort’s website revealed that the Believe Key had sold out. While it’s still available for renewal for existing Magic Key holders, the Believe Key is no longer open for new purchases. The Inspire Key and the Imagine Key (Southern California residents only) are also sold out and only available for renewal.
