Disney Park Hit With One Closure After Another

Southern California’s Disneyland Resort will soon face the temporary closure of one of its most popular lands.

Going to the Walt Disney World Resort or the Disneyland Resort are known to be some of the best places in the world to enjoy the Disney experience. From the amazing rides and attractions like Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, there’s a lot on offer for Disney guests to enjoy.

As reported by Newsweek, “Critter Country will temporarily close on May 1 to help make space for construction on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.”

As fans know, Disneyland shut down Splash Mountain (with its closure announced years prior) to replace it with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. This was in large part due to the criticism that the ride received and the movie it was inspired by—Song of the South—received.

Many fans and guests alike have openly shared their dismay and disappointment following the closure of the beloved Disneyland attraction. The decision to shut down this iconic ride, though met with resistance by fans, underscores the Walt Disney Company’s firm dedication to introducing Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

This shift in focus reflects Disney’s ongoing efforts to evolve its offerings and cater to the changing preferences of its audience while staying true to its heritage of innovation and storytelling.

“Teams are working hard to bring Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to life, and we’re continuing to invest in the improvement of overall pathways and surrounding areas to help provide a great guest experience when the attraction opens,” Disney wrote in a statement.

Disney continued, “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will take guests on musical adventures… with Princess Tiana and alligator through the bayou as they prepare to host a one-of-a-kind celebration during Mardi Gras season where everyone is welcome. ”

To allow for the development necessary for the upcoming Disney Park attraction, the closure of Critter Country has been scheduled by Disneyland. This temporary shutdown beginning May 1 is essential to make way for the exciting new addition to the park.

During this period, guests will have the opportunity to witness the transformation and progress as the new attraction takes shape in place of Critter Country.

This isn’t the only closure Disney is dealing with at the moment. The Disney Park also is dealing with the closure of one of its most iconic rides: Haunted Mansion. The ride closed in January 2024 to make room for a notable change coming to the attraction.
