New Disney World and Disneyland Park Plans Revealed

Few things are more exciting than new rides, shows, and attractions coming to a Disney theme park. It doesn’t matter whether we are discussing Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park in Anaheim, or Walt Disney World Resort parks (Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom).

Leading up to the November 8 Quarterly Earnings Call, Disney has revealed a 3-year plan for its Parks and Experiences. We are given expected opening dates on the list (shown below) through various Disney parks and the Disney Cruise Line.

Beginning November 10, 2023, and going through the end of 2026, it showcases multiple things to look forward to.

Upcoming Projects

In Disneyland Park, they have included the new Adventureland Treehouse (which Disney Fanatic has already reported on). This is set to open in two days.

Also debuting later this month is the World of Frozen at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.

This, too, has been reported on in great detail. It will contain an updated version of Frozen Ever After, a roller coaster themed to Oaken’s sleds, and a show building. In addition, guests can dine and shop at a series of Arendelle venues.

Walt Disney World Plans

The new EPCOT show, Luminous: The Symphony of Us, is coming to Walt Disney World Resort in December. Also, in December, there will be the World Celebration at EPCOT.

Unfortunately, there isn’t much more to be excited about when it comes to Walt Disney World Resort (except Tiana’s Bayou Adventure). It is unclear whether this is because of the fight with the Florida government or lower park attendance in the Orlando area.

Disney Cruise Line Plans

But if you’re a big fan of Disney Cruise Line, you can look forward to the three new cruise ships coming out: one in 2024, one in 2025, and one in 2026.

Next year will also see the opening of Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point – a private destination for Disney Cruise Line guests.

Other Investments

It does seem that the Walt Disney Company is also planning to invest more in international theme parks over domestic theme parks. Again, it is not exactly clear as to the reason behind this. The company’s most significant revenue source is Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Yet, they have chosen to invest more heavily in parks located elsewhere.

This year, we will see a Zootopia-themed land coming to Shanghai Disney Resort and an entirely new area called Fantasy Springs coming to Tokyo Disneyland Resort.

The Walt Disney Company is always committed to pushing the boundaries of imagination, engineering, and creativity. And hopefully, they can do more in the coming years to wow the guests in domestic parks.

Steven

Steven has a complicated relationship with Disney. As a child, he visited Walt Disney World every few years with his family. But he never understood why kids his age (and older) were so scared of Snow White or Alien Encounter. He is a former participant of the Disney College Program (left early…long story), and he also previously worked in Children’s publishing, where he adapted multiple Disney movies and TV shows. He has many controversial opinions about Disney…like having a positive view of Michael Eisner, believing Return of the Jedi is superior to The Empire Strikes Back, and that Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge should have never been built (at least not at Hollywood Studios). Every year for the past two decades, Steven has visited either Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Aulani or went on a Disney Cruise. He’s happy to share any and all knowledge of the Disney destinations (and he likes using parenthesis a lot…as well as ellipses…)
