For more than 20 years, guests visiting Disneyland Resort could head into Adventureland at Disneyland Park and relive the story of Tarzan. Tarzan’s Treehouse opened in 1999, the same year as the classic Disney animated film, Tarzan, was released. Tarzan’s Treehouse retold the story in incredible detail, and guests were able to venture inside the tale more than ever before.
In 2021, Tarzan’s Treehouse abruptly closed, with no mention of the closure being listed on the Disneyland Resort website. At first, many assumed that the closure would be a short one. However, as the months dragged on, guests were left wondering what the heck was going on.
Extensive construction began in April 2022, and then Disney announced that the new story would be taking over.
In just a few days, the new Adventureland Treehouse will open. The construction walls have come down and guests are getting a close look at the new family and the new story that will be told.
Guests can see a working water wheel that takes buckets of water up to the top of the tree. The new family has combined natural resources and found objects to make the treehouse into their own, personal oasis.
However, the best part of the treehouse has to be their pet — an ostrich named Jane. Disney Imagineers went above and beyond in designing this new animatronic, and she looks so real!
Take a look at some of the first footage filmed of Jane!

The text over the video does call the ostrich Clementine, but it is pointed out that, on the fenced-in area, there is a plaque that identifies the ostrich as Jane. This is most likely a nod to Tarzan’s Treehouse. As many fans know, in the movie, Tarzan’s love interest is the lovely Jane Porter.
With the official opening of the Adventureland Treehouse fast approaching, Disney has even shared a first look inside the attraction. Take a look!
This is not the first time that Disney has blown guests away with its incredibly detailed and realistic-looking animatronics. Over at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, Imagineers are putting the final details on Arendelle: World of Frozen.
The new land will have a number of new attractions, including Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs and Hong Kong’s own version of Frozen Ever After. Right now, guests can only ride Frozen Ever After if they visit EPCOT at Walt Disney World Resort.
The animatronics at Frozen Ever After in EPCOT are good, but they are nothing compared to the ones created for Hong Kong Disney. Disney took it to the next level with the new Queen Anna and Elsa animatronics. Guests will be able to see them when the World of Frozen opens on November 20, 2023.
