Nearly a decade ago, Walt Disney Studios came out with its newest animated film, taking the world by storm. Frozen starred Idina Menzel as Elsa, a woman who was about to become queen of the Kingdom of Arendelle, but she is hiding a deep secret. Elsa creates snow and ice when her emotions get the best of her. Sadly, the people of Arendelle are scared of Elsa’s ability, and she runs off and creates an ice castle to live in. Frozen made more than $1 billion, making it one of Disney’s most successful movies ever, in addition to creating one of Disney’s most popular songs — “Let It Go”.
In the decade since Frozen was released, the film has become even more popular than it was when it was released. Because of that, Disney is building entire new lands dedicated to the hit film — including the World of Frozen at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. The new land will feature new attractions like Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs and a Frozen-themed roller coaster. There will also be shopping and dining locations. It will be the perfect place to visit for any fan of Frozen!
We have been watching and waiting for this new land to come together, and now, we are finally getting a closer look at the project as it inches closer and closer to completion. Disney has just released a video, showing us more details than we have ever seen. Take a look below!
What will make this World of Frozen land truly spectacular is the Elsa animatronic that will be found there. Disney’s Imagineers have always been known for their incredible recreation of Disney characters. Elsa is no exception, and she may be the most realistic animatronic that Disney has ever created.
Here are more details on this brand-new land and what Guests will be able to experience once it is open.
As you can see from the drone video, the construction of the Arendelle village is almost completed – the clock tower, Elsa’s Ice Palace sitting atop the North Mountain and Arendelle Castle – all have set the scene for World of Frozen to come alive.
Our innovations make our storytelling better – richer, more immersive, and forever memorable to guests and consumers around the world. At the Frozen Ever After attraction, guests will have the opportunity to step into the world of Arendelle like never before and interact with the stunning, real-life scale Audio-Animatronics figures of our beloved “Frozen” characters as they embark on a whimsical journey. It’s been wonderful collaborating with Walt Disney Animation Studios to ensure that every detail of these characters – such as costumes and performances – feels like they’ve stepped right out of the movie.
I’m so proud of how our team pushed the boundaries to enhance the technology of the Audio-Animatronics figures as we bring this new attraction to Hong Kong Disneyland. Our figure of Elsa takes Audio-Animatronics technology to a whole new level. When you see Elsa performing her signature song “Let It Go,” her facial expressions and body movements will bring her to life like never before.
World of Frozen is scheduled to open in late-2023. Disney Fanatic will keep readers updated as we learn more, including an official opening date!
